So basically your defense is "I am retarded, therefore your logic will not work on me", you know, what with my specifically saying "only the GBC-exclusive titles are shitty". Good to know!

Uhhh, were we arguing? This conversation isn't even worth pursuing any further. You people are all really angry about the dumbest things. Thanks for making me look better though, it's kind of hard to do.

Also, you do all realize that what you're saying about Touhou is way more harsh and closed minded than what I said about Bayonetta, right? I'd think you were doing it on purpose if I didn't know this community better.
Deets
Damn miab's even better at this than Eggman
Eggman of the Strata
A lot better. It must be the practice he gets while he doesn't play his games.

All video games ever made since 1968 to 2007 and on into the future, SUCK. And will continue to suck. Until the end of time. Goodbye.

I'm pretty sure that I've played more Touhou than you have, considering I beat 7, 8 and 10 on Hard (and have gotten to Lunatic Stage 6 on MoF a few times), and cleared all 85 scenes in Shoot the Bullet. Haven't played 12, haven't beaten 11 since most of it sucks so much. I did easy clear it but I don't care because easy is so easy. I'm not making empty reflexive judgments here.

ZUN suffers Ys VI syndrome where the composition is good but the synth instruments sound like ass though.

Fixed for the largest degree of accuracy. I can't think of many instances where I prefer ZUN's original work to that of some random remix (well, the ones that don't suck). Unless it's the PC-98 soundtracks that nobody bothers with anymore.

I like the PC-98 Touhou music a lot, actually. Plenty of good tracks, and you can't beat that classic FM sound.

Okay am I the only person who thinks that writing stuff like this about games that consist of pop culture references, non sequitur humor and fart jokes is a little overboard

My greatest challenge in writing this was to balance the concrete with the theoretical, and the factual with the dramatization, and to make sure it didn't end up sounding like bad fanfiction XP

How internet of you!

When you get to the point where he describes what Ness and Friends fought to get to Giygas, you can't help but laugh because there's no way you can write that in a serious tone, but he does try.

EDIT2: For fucks sakes the comment section. Also, the author is circlejerking himself...amazing. Why yes you can guess at the underlying theme of the Mother series...because it's never explicity said! Grats dude.

I mean, seriously:

How exactly this transition occurred is left masterfully ambiguous

QUOTE
the exact processes are probably impossible for the human mind to even comprehend

So, the plot is MASTERFULLY CRAFTED because they don't explain half of the shit.
Eggman of the Strata
It actually is masterfully crafted...but that person is still completely insane. Reading interviews with Itoi, there's clearly a much bigger undercurrent to the game than what's really obvious.
rmz
There is a lot unstated, yes. It is interesting, yes. It is epic, yes. But calling it "masterfully crafted" is, to me, three shades away from this (although, not satire). He's giving the creators credit for things that just aren't there.
Mazrim
Maybe he reads too much into Itoi's whole "giygas is based off rape lol" thing that the fans really cling to for some reason.

I played some BB; Hakumen (in arcade mode) feels even stupider than Seth in SF4, at least at my skill level. So many times I was ahead by a huge margin and then he uses some distortion ability that cuts off 75% of my health with one attack. I won against him a number of times...I just couldn't win against him twice in the same match. Sigh.

Though I do only have about 5 hours of BB total under my belt so that's probably not helping.

That's probably his parry super. Just run up and throw him a lot, the AI has problems with that for some reason. If he escapes, buffer a dash and throw again. AND he can't parry it so you'll be like emot-colbert.gif

I find Seth WAY easier than Abel in SF4 though, Abel fucking command throws me out of every single thing I do, in the startup frames. It blows when I'm using a character with no range or projectiles.
chotto kiitena
Welp, Uncharted 2 is incredibly awesome. Just FYI.
WILD RIDE
Oh come on, as fighting game bosses go Hakumen is pretty easy, and he's not even the boss. Ditto for Nu, with most characters. Now Boss Ragna, he's stupid. Really stupid. Luckily he's optional.

Oh, I don't doubt that, it's just dumb that even for someone as new as me, the first 8 characters are stupidly spam-whatever-you-want-and-win easy, and then Hakumen is so tuned much harder by comparison.

I'm sure I'll get it once I actually get some basic combos down and stop spamming, it just seems like a fighting game staple to have the last 1-3 characters in arcade mode to be three times as smart as everyone leading up to them. Why not make them all smart, you know?

Uncharted 2 is fucking incredible.

GOTY, seriously.
rmz
Probably should check it out at some point I guess

And the first one too
chotto kiitena
Yeah play the first one first because it's a great game in its own right and sets up the characters for the second one, which is considerably better again.
Eggman of the Strata
Uncharted 2 would need to correct a looooooooot of stuff that was wrong from the first one for it to be that good. I pretty much hated the first one after I had finished, what with with the shitty gunfighting, the enemies that pop up out of nowhere in places you can't even reach or where you just totally were and where it should be impossible for them to exist (like, you know, inside the massive ruins that you totally unlocked that no one else knows how to open?), enemy AI that randomly decides to be the world's perfect sniper after spending 4 minutes staring at a wall, the entire river rapids area and then the awful end section.
Tropical Pallete
I've never liked anything from Naughty Dog, honestly. Uncharted doesn't make me want to go buy a PS3.
annoying bitch
I really doubt Uncharted 1+2 is something like MGS1+2 where you're silly for playing MGS2 first, so should I try to play Uncharted 2 despite knowing nothing about the first?
Eggman of the Strata
Nathan Drake is a sarcastic jackass, old man Sully likes money and is also a jackass, and girl from the first game is one of those really annoying female characters who's supposed to be really "headstrong," which means she just runs straight into danger and is a retard. The actual story in the game is about as deep as your average summer blockbuster movie so there's no point really in going back to it.

There, you know everything you really need to know about Uncharted 1.

this is honestly what I was afraid of

if uncharted 2 is as good as they say then I want to just jump into it first instead of trudging through a game I don't care about, and potentially making the experience of playing the sequel less fun

but uncharted 1 is fun you will enjoy playing it, it is worth playing on its own

also wtf @ finding a game eggman doesn't like
Eggman of the Strata
Not only is it a game I don't like, it's also a game that every one of my friends bought because it was supposed to be THE early PS3 game to have and they all dislike it too.

It reminds me of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time sort of. It's really fun to run around and do the little jumping puzzles and it's pretty but the second combat comes into the game it just draaaaaaaaags, except Uncharted has like 10x the amount of combat and Sands of Time ends up being awesome.
chotto kiitena
Well you and your friends are strange

But no, Uncharted 2 plays the same way and has the same kind of combat and the same dodge + roll button so if you don't like Uncharted 1 then I guess you'll just be missing out on the GOTY btns.gif

eggman doesn't like mgs4 so to me that's the video game equivalent of playing iidx but not liking anything by wac or slake or nagureo or ryu or nekomata or kubota or sota or even taka and just kinda sitting in a corner playing some yoshitaka songs

Was the first LostWinds game for Wiiware any good? I remember eggman mentioning it before I think. There's a new one out on Wiiware now.

MGS4 fits the Yoshitaka song a lot more in this analogy than you're probably comfortable with

What the. The jumping puzzles are glitchy and tedious. 40 minutes into the game I was wishing I had sold it like I originally planned on doing because all I was doing was jumping around and not shooting anything. Then again, it took me like 20 minutes to get past that jumping puzzle in the church (with the two big keys), and my little brother who is way worse at video games in general than I am did it on his first try so maybe the game just hates me and decides to have stupid physics when I'm playing.

Uncharted has like the easiest jumping puzzles this side of Prince of Persia, Nate will even stretch his arms out in the direction of a ledge if he can make the jump there from whatever he's currently hanging onto
Buffalo
ima go down to stl for a sf4 tourney even though I dont really like the game on the 5th of november so if anyone wants to play, just add my GT or something.
