Anyone trying to use the site I linked:

type "login" and press enter
login: any name you want (over 3 characters)
password: portal

enter "thecakeisalie" and it gives you some interesting stuff.

There's another login you can use, but I can't seem to find it right now. Actually lists the backstory of Portal.

Both the survey and the thecakeisalie "supervision hiding" thing are freaking hilarious.

edit oh my god portal looks fucking amazing I will have to purchase this once I get my next paycheck

Fuck it, I'm going to buy the Orange Box right now.
Elixir
Can't you simply purchase Portal via Steam? Go for that option.
Mazrim
I want to try TF2 as well though. tongue.gif

Bought the Orange Box yesterday, played through Portal. God damn that game was amazing. I didn't want GlaDOS to stop talking.

Shit.. they may have just sold me on the game itself.

Flash Portal is really glitchy for me. My computer hates it.

But it looooooves the real thing. And cake.

So do I need a video card with pixel shaders for JUST Portal and nothing else? This game looks really cool, but I'm not sure if I should get it due to requirement dry.gif.

I use a Radeon 9800 Pro for it. A nearly 5 year old card, at this point (4 and a half, really). So...you can get a pretty cheap card to run it, but yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a requirement.
Mazrim
Pixel Shaders arent exactly new technology like Grayfox noted. But yeah, I was in Commentary mode the other night and they mentioned how portals are rendered and that's why you need a pixel shader.

Maybe once I buy a new computer then, since this one is probably gonna last only bit longer and I don't wanna plop down money on an old card when I'll end up getting a whole new system mellow.gif

Hopefully someone I know will have this game so I can play through it though.

What's this?
Ninjed by quiet release.

Phantasy Star I-II-III-IV has been demoted to TBA status on Gamefaqs, though.

Ah, I missed that.

Last I heard, it (along with PS I-II-III-IV & Fantasy Zone II, which I'm also watching for) was planned for release, but I never knew when.
Anyhow, ordered.
Elixir
Ahaha Sega Ages. I have the Treasure Box and Fantasy Zone games which they released.

I played through Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP. Really nice remake and it also has the original and Symphony of the Night.

And you can yourself an internet person? The english voices are legendary. mad.gif
Schlagwerk
I was thinking about this the other day 'cause I am one of the people who would prefer the original game complete with bugs and bad translations (like SotN and FFT). What makes people prefer it? Is it just stubborness to change? Nostalgia? Did we only like the original because of these quirks?

While still waiting for my copy of Sega Ages: Virtual On from play-asia, NCSX has gotten their copies in and has posted some reviews. Seems pretty accurate to the arcade version, but they claim there is some jittering to the graphics occassionally. Also seems that the play controls are as they should be for the PS2, and probably the most awesome thing is this game has online play. That said, my PS2 will never see the light of the internet, so it's lost on me.
Sounds like Sega Ages has pumped out another game for the fanboys, so I'm gonna love it for that.

A guy I know who owns a Virtual On cab says that the sega ages version is actually based on the Saturn version, so NCSX is probably wrong about that, haha.

Yeah, see - I love SotN to death, and Castlevania is a fantastic series, but 4chan have turned the lines into memes. I'm sick of it. I'm actually glad it's different for a change. Something like different phrases (hello FFT) isn't going to put me off a game.

$1200 for a fully operational Virtual On cabinet sounds like a good deal actually.
Eery VO cab I've seen at random arcades in the past 5 or so years have all been in piss poor condition (bad screens, unresponsive twin sticks, dead speakers)

Yeah, it would've been. Even if there was some repairs that needed to be done it wouldn't have been a big deal. I worked as an arcade repair person over breaks during college. The only thing that kept me from buying it was not really knowing where I would put it and if the apartment I'd eventually get would have room for it.

EDIT: More stuff

First, I have a 360 and Senko no Ronde so if anyone wants to try nub-level online matches, I'm up for it.

Second, should I get GHIII for the PS2 or the 360? I'm getting the bundle either way since I want to see the new guitar.
PS2 pros: I already have 2 guitars for the PS2 so I'm multiplayer ready. The new guitar may have more responsive fret buttons so it would be better for GuitarFreaks, or it might be wired differently inside so there'll be a work around for the holding left problem of the old guitars. Of course, neither of these are fact.. just musing of my mind. Hell, if anyone already has answers for those questions, I'd like to know.
360 pros: Achievements. Possible online content. And when Rock Band comes out, it'd give me a second guitar. Though until then, I'm stuck with 1 player and I don't even know if the Rock Band guitar will be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero games to give me a second one for GHIII.
Deets
Whoah, hey - Virtual On Sega Ages is totally accurate to the arcade version, unlike what said guy was guessing based on early screenshots. They apparently got most of the staff from the original game to work on the port, which is why it's so damn rad. And some of the secrets sound ridiculously great. New moves for all characters to match them up to their Oratario Tangram counterparts? Z-GRADT mode? Awesome.

Also you don't want to buy the PS2 version of GHIII, I don't think. It has really hideous loading times and it takes about 30 seconds just to autosave between songs. And it's really ugly.
Schlagwerk
Deets, you are the bearer of awesome news.. on both counts.

Speaking of Zelda, I my grandma won Phantom Hourglass and she's going to give it to me as soon as it gets to her place in the mail. I've heard that the game is made much easier to cater to a wider audience, but other than that, are there any major flaws with the game that I should be aware of?
Deets
It's a pretty boring and often insulting interactive spreadsheet like the other modern zelda games?

It has some funny moments and some really bad graphics.

Insulting? I don't know what you're getting at, the only time I've been insulted in a Zelda game is with some of those awful cutscenes in Twilight Princess. Nintendo trying to be Eva/Xenogears = lol
But speaking of which...you don't like XG either...

Regardless, Phantom Hourglass is pretty fun and inventive so far. The touch screen controls are astoundingly good.
Toph
Phantom Hourglass is very very good and its only flaws are somewhat linear dungeons (it's always pretty easy to figure out where to go) and the whole sailing thing. I'd rather explore a world than draw lines on sea charts I guess.

The boss fights are mostly really cool.

How are you so dumb? Seriously.

ps Zelda games have never been difficult and continuing on with this "they've dumbed it down" borders on brutally retarded.
