http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9LqOTMFJlQ match isn't great but shows a bit of what akuma can do. need to see more fadc vids. Does every character have a fadc into ultra combo?

edit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw0NSuxsJFs&fmt=18 this is better. that bait at 2:27 was NICE

He still takes damage like a bitch though. And that Ryu practically gave him the round after the stun. And doing Raging Demon from an FADC is pretty much the only way to land it.

And no, not everyone can FADC into Ultra. Cammy's makes her slide under them from what I've tried.

Have to say I'm a bit disappointed after reading the PRIMA guide, which starts off promising but doesn't really go into the depth I felt the author was setting up for. Also, the writing is a bit amateurish in spots; I'll have to find a couple samples and post them, it's pretty hilarious. At one point he gives an overview of how characters are evaluated and how tier lists are constructed ("...determined by the global competitive community..."), and then he includes a tier list, but then you see the disclaimer "This tier list is not an official Capcom list, but rather the opinion of the author" haha wtf

Also, here's a video of some dude showing off his ryu combos using the normal xbox controller: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QusZXYuSowo

I already asked this on BMS, but I figure it can't hurt to ask here too as I wasn't fully satisfied with my response. (I don't think I asked it here, and if I did, I didn't get a response)

Are there any really straightforward, in-depth, specific guides to hacking PSPs on the internet? I'd think there would be, but I can't seem to find one. I have a 1000, but the firmware is 3.9 or something, so I need a Pandora battery, and magic memory stick. That part I get. What I don't get is if that's the only way, if these 'Magic Memory Sticks' are one time use things that you can't use for anything else, what games mess with attempted piracy (I've definitely heard of games doing this, though I don't know if it's true or not), and probably some other crap I can't think of...

I mistakenly thought that Star Ocean 4 was pushed back to March 3, but it turns out the game is released today
Guess today I'm going to pick up my Ys preorder, preorder a DSi, and pick up Star Ocean 4

..and I was gonna start up WoW again this weekend, too... wacko.gif
Eggman of the Strata
Yeah, I have to wait until a bit later to go pick up my copy. Super excited though.

You should get back into it, Patch 3.1 is looking to be amazing.

Now that BeatBlox is wrapping up I am starting to play WoW more these days too. My wife's our guild leader now and they need another healer or two for their 25s so she's been bugging me to for a while...

Dual Specs will help your guild a ton, I guarantee it. I can't wait to swap from DPS to Healing on the fly!

P.S. Dual Specs will cost 1000g so be ready for that.

ATLUS ANNOUNCES
PERSONA ®
FOR PSP® (PlayStation®Portable)
Yes, it's coming. Yes, it's fully remastered. And no, it wasn't leaked first.

In the weeks to come, we'll share more about what's new in this full restoration of the original Revelations: Persona. In the meantime, we can say that that which was not carried over the first time around is restored. The game is fully rebalanced, visually enhanced, and completely relocalized.

This Fall, an old chapter begins anew.
Eggman of the Strata
I mentioned that earlier...

There are going to be many many people who've only played P3 and 4 and go into P1 expecting something totally different than what it is.

sorry if you mentioned this more than 2 days ago though given that Kotaku posted it only a couple of hours ago I doubt it
Eggman of the Strata
I posted something about it last month or so when it was first just a rumor but very strongly supported.

Yeah, there we go.
Axem Rangers
wow good for you

Oh, well, I saw that as a rumor as it was but it was 6 weeks ago so I think that the entire things is moot because I don't even remember writing that reply haha.

But yeah confirmed in any case so yay

PSP version of Rock Band that plays like Amplitude coming soon.

Developed by Backbone :<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Moogy
The original Persona isn't really such a great game anymore, given the terrible first person dungeons and general clunkiness. Ah well.

It'll be nice to have a proper English version, at least.

And the news of Atlus localizing this is indeed new; there's been confirmation of the actual remake for a few weeks or so now, though. I suppose it could have been reasonably inferred that they were going to localize it, though.

Too bad it's not going to have any electronica, though. sad.gif

PSP FreQuency would be great but Harmonix has sold out bawwwwwwwwww

Amplitude was fun but the new powerups were stupid and I much prefer being able to loop back around to the first track like in FreQuency.

Completely agree, but they're both quality games, at the very least. Plus, I preferred the soundtrack to Frequency, but that may be because I played it way more. tongue.gif

I would rather have Amplitude or Frequency on the PSP over Rock Band any day. There's enough fucking guitar/drum/hero//villan/sellouts in the world already.

I was just playing Amplitude the other day.. and by playing, I mean I played 1 or 2 songs, got fed up with the silly combo-based scoring system and then just listened to the sweet, sweet music in soundtrack mode

EDIT: to clarify, what irked me was how in a game where keeping a combo is such a big deal, the tracks are pretty fickle with when they decide to appear at all. Even if you do clear all the tracks in order from one side to another, it usually isn't long before the one on the opposite side of the board pops before you have a chance to get back over there. I never played Frequency, but the sounds of the tracks wrapping around in a large circle sound awfully nice

I'm surprised nobody ever fully mapped out the tracks, power ups, etc and planned the perfect path through every song.. well, did that and then shared it online

At some point it had been done; someone mentioned it as a reference when posting videos of perfect paths, I think on AIJ. It's been a long time so I don't have a bookmark or anything, but I don't think there's a constant canonical path through every song and it's dependent on what powerups generate since the Freestyle is required from time to time.

Hopefully, the official announcement of VOOT means that more of Sega's Dreamcast and NAOMI titles are en route. After all, Sega registered the trademark for Virtual On Oratorio Tangram in December, alongside a slew of other Dreamcast era games over the past six months.

Those include ChuChu Rocket, Cosmic Smash, Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Shuffle and more. Sega has yet to confirm a re-release of any of those titles, however.

I thought I was over caring about DC games getting ported, what with it the system being long dead and all, but I hate digital media so much that I'm not. This is lame.

Wasn't there a third (regular) Virtual On that never got a console release? Why not port that instead, assuming I'm not making it up.

Oh, good. I'm glad to hear someone has a positive opinion about it :S

But then SA hated SO3 as well so whatcha gonna do

I've got to wait another week for it in any case, sigh
Moogy
SO4's english localization is pretty cool. i know several people boycotting it because of how ineptly square handled that

but i wasn't going to play it anyway, even in japanese, lol, after seeing the first screenshots of the models ages ago. the character designs are fine, if bland, but the models are horrendously ugly overly realistic FF shit.

also SO3 is pretty awful. it has a fun battle system and cool music but the storyline and characters are fucking retarded and the game progression is so poorly designed that it approaches the point of parody.

SO4 indeed appears to be much better but it is unfortunately rendered unplayable by how offensive the 3D models are.

i basically hate everything though

oh well. i'm looking forward to the SO4 OST at least.

Virtual On: MARZ came out on PS2 and was not very good at all. And I'm probably being too kind.

Virtual On: MARZ used all the same systems from Virtual On Force. Force was the 2v2 networked arcade follow-up to VO:OT and in response to how fast and complicated VO:OT was, Force simplified the controls vastly and slowed things down
The problem is that things played slower than even VO:OM... whoops
Also, all the variation attacks in VO:OT were simplified in Force/MARZ. Instead of having a seperate L-Turbo,R-Turbo, neutral variations of attacks while walking, dashing, crouching, dash crouching, jumping, air dashing, etc etc, there is only one turbo variation and I think half of the situations where your attack changes were dropped (like dashing is the same as dash crouching)

When I was watching people play Force in Japan, almost all the matches ended in time out. Not very exciting

I still prefer VO:OM because it is simple (and because Viper II is far better than Cypher), but I always wanted to get into VO:OT more.. I just never had the competition

As for controls, I dunno how I feel about the 360's staggered analog stick positioning. The PS2 dual shock is pretty damned good if you don't have twinsticks, though. I still have my DC twinsticks.. now only if there were a DC->360 converter
WILD RIDE
Moogy, you know what I meant.

Eggman, you probably didn't know what I meant, but I didn't mean that. I wrote that one off upon seeing the cowboy hat. There was some other arcade game with Virtual On in the name. I can only assume it doesn't deviate too much from the formula, but then again I know nothing about it at all.

Bugger. I finally decided to purchase Worms for XBLA and less than a month later it's announced that an exclusive remake of Worms Armageddon is making its way to XBLA

Oh well, at least BBH & I got to play a few rounds of Worms where everything we tried to do gloriously backfired. In his defense it was the first time he had ever played a Worms game. In my defense I think that kamikaze-ing a member right into the side of a mountain so everyone else on the team can huddle up inside the newly-formed tunnel should be considered a legitimate strategy

Now that I think about it, this exact same thing happened with Exit and Exit 2...

Yeah, if they get all of the customization options in there from Worms Armageddon, it'll be WELL worth the price. Maybe then I can finally convince some of my friends to pick it up - I couldn't convince them on the original game for that reason.

Yeah, it's most definitely awesome. Apparently I already missed like 6 Private Actions though and the ones I've seen so far have been pretty funny or neat so I'm sad I missed those, whatever they were.

Item Creation is handled much better, the bonus board is handled better, combat has more depth, the soundtrack has been cool so far and while I'm not far enough to judge story (mostly because it's all been exploration hurr kind of the point of the game there), I'm enjoying what I'm doing. You don't appear to stay on any one planet for too long so your scenery changes up quite a bit.

Also, holy crap I hope it's a real remake of Armageddon with all the weapons because I will buy that.

Oh yeah, sort of a weird note on Star Ocean 4. It appears to actually run slower while installed. I've got it installed and there are some weird framerate problems while running around the field (nothing big) but when I uninstalled it, it had none. Sort of wondering if it works like Halo 3.
