is MM9 good and should I play it? Is it more difficult than MM1 and stuff?

From what I played of it, I'd say it's more difficult than MM1 (and stuff). It was pretty fucking hard for me (but I never beat any of the original games anyway, so I guess that could have something to do with it...I've been very close on 1 - 3, though, which is more than I can say for 9).

QUOTE
Is Legends 2 or 3 or 4 any good (they might've stopped at 2 but I didn't check due to lack of interest)

Legends 1 and 2 are absolutely fantastic, so long as you're not expecting a traditional Mega Man experience, and it's very unfortunate that 3 (or 4, for that matter) doesn't exist. sad.gif

I noticed every song in X3 sounds identical but other than that is it good?

I've liked what I've played of X3 so far! But that's not too much.
Moogy
The original MMX is the best Megaman game. Best music too.
Zerst
Am I really in the minority that liked X5? It's easy as hell, but still a solid game. I think X6 had the best design for hidden items, but fuck those reploids and their uncanny skill at dying. X3 is my favorite overall.

Is it more difficult than MM1 and stuff? is MM9 still manageable? I am really bad at platformers

no, MM9 has energy tanks and spike savers and it's actually programmed well so it's nowhere near as frustrating as MM1. mm9 has a lot of tricky jumps and spikes on the ceilings and shit, but just DEAL WITH IT. dont puss out. just DO IT. 50 times on your mutherfuckin Wii. you BITCH

mmz rules, it is tough as fuck and way harder than mm9. not sure about the other ones but word around the office is they pussed out. never played mmxz. mmlegends rules PLAY IT. X2 and X3 are okay play them. every other X game, aside from the first, is BALLS. X8 is better than X5-X7 and maybe X4 IMHFO, but that's not saying much. it's also the hardest one.
Eggman of the Strata
Mega Man Zero gets easier as the series goes on. Z1 was ridiculous, Z2 was really hard, Z3 was manageable (but with some of the WORST names in history) and I never played Z4. ZXA is pretty cool. I got it for $7.
Moogy
MMZ1 is a really, really bad game. The ludicrous difficulty comes from the fact that it's so poorly designed. I didn't play any of the rest because the first one was so bad.

I hear MM9's fortress stages resemble IWBTG. That's pretty cool.
WILD RIDE
The only Mega Man games I've beaten are Mega Man 8, Mega Man Xtreme, and Mega Man Zero 3. So Zero 3 can't be very difficult. The stuff you have to do in the hub is kind of tedious though.

I did everything in MMZ1, but never really bothered to get very far into Z2. I'm at the magma phoenix guy and he gives me a hard time with no cyber faeries
Most of the difficulty in MMZ comes from the small screen. Kinda like how MM1 for the GB what tough.. you never had much room to work with

I'm still slowly going through the challenges in MM9. The perfect run and beating every boss with 1 health left are the worse for me. Also I haven't been lucky enough to get Gravity Man to stand still for 10 seconds yet.. he's the only Quick Draw I have left since.. like the second day I owned the game

The only way MMX5 could've been more insulting is if it had the voice actors from MMX4.

hahaha wtf, mmz is moderately hard at best, it just comes down on you hard for being a pussy. 2 years ago i replayed it on a whim, and found it to be much more fun and rewarding when i went through stages with minimal damage and without cyber elves (which isn't hard to do. if you want hard, try playing MMX6 without any upgrades or weapons besides the x-buster and z-saber on xtreme difficulty. thank god that it gives you unlimited continues.) basically if you're not maintaining a B hunter rank or higher, you need to try harder.

I just wish the double jump from X4+ carried over. It didn't feel as Zero-y without it.

X3 is okay but not great because it adds a bunch of useless extras to the equation with no benefit to the game. X2 does it as well but it's also the first time they did it, which didn't feel as forced as X3. X4 is really good, play it. X5 is good too, never understood why people hate it so much. The nostalgia filled last areas are fun (OMG NOSTALGIA THIS GAME MUST BE BAD RIGHT) and the music is probably the best of all the PS1 X games. It has solid level design and aside from from some pretty poor boss names I don't see the issue.

X6 is bad because it's frustrating. Nightmare junk is dumb, some of the levels are horrible, and didn't even try to hide how rushed and overdone the series was at that point (reusing Dynamo completely, Sigma being a half complete junkpile, terminator head ending).

Buy MM9 as well as Megaman Anniversary Collection, it's worth getting.

Yeah this pretty much exactly coincides with my experiences with the series, except I bought Advent new. Being able to actually transform into the robot masters (in Advent) is a cool idea in principle but they all control so janky that most of the time it's more fun just to play as one of the regular models, even if it makes the boss fights take longer.

I guess I don't remember Z1 being that hard (except for the final boss) but part of that was because the bosses with elements all took ridiculous damage from their weaknesses.

I either did that, or was very close. My sister sold off my copy of the game when I left for college - with Metal Mario and everything. I had a bunch of hole-in-one's on that file, too. sad.gif

So who wants to try and sell me on Shining Force II? What makes it such a great game? I'd never heard anything about it until recently (besides the title, which I'd heard years ago), and even then I don't exactly know much about the game (besides it being a strategy RPG).

You know what we need on the VC? Kirby's Dream Course.
Eggman of the Strata
We already have that?

Also, I played through Too Human over the weekend. Go 12 hour game that's really just 10 hours of hack'n'slash "hold the right stick in the direction of the enemy" horrible camera loot-a-thon with 2 hours maybe of story, all of which happens at the end, right where the game cuts off and you're left with TO BE CONTINUED. Goddamn planned trilogies.

Yeah, you're right. I was thinking about how it'd be cool as a pack-in with Super Star Deluxe for the DS or something but I do recall having purchased Dream Course for the VC. I just haven't turned on my Wii in long enough that I forgot.

Still would be nice for the DS, though. biggrin.gif

Shining Force II is just a simple, fun little SRPG. The story is nothing epic, there are no systems as complex, unforgiving, or confusing as some other SRPGs. It's straight forward, easy to play, some nice graphics, and good music

Down the road if I have time to kill, I'm gonna pick it up

RMC: What can we look forward to as far as music? Will the old songs be retained, or will there be something else?

TR: The WiiWare version of Cave Story features all-new music rearranged by Yann van der Cruyssen. He’s worked with Nicklas (Nygren) in the past and we’ve really liked working with him. We’ve paid very close attention to stay as faithful as possible to the original music. Each track is passed off while in-progress state to Amaya so that he can review and approve it.

Yes, the old music and graphics will both be retained via a switch. You’ll also be able to mix-and-match audio and visuals. So, if you like the old art and new music, or vice versa, you can do it. Cave Story has a huge fanbase, we’re aware of that and want to make sure that it’s true to what they expect and Pixel-approved. If they don’t like the new art or music, we won’t be offended and they can play the game in its original state.

Picked up Grid for $15 today on clearance at Target. Awesome racing game.

Could've gotten a GTA4 Special Edition for $22 but ehhh I bought the game when it came out and selling it online would be worthless because it weighs a ton.

Also, that MM9 shirt with the fake box art logo is now available. And by now available, I mean it was instantly put on backorder and costs $25 + $8 shipping just for cheap shipping. Agggggh too much.

By the way guys, the $3 Endless Mode in Mega Man 9 is the Best Thing About the Game. The way it works is: you start at the beginning of a randomly chosen 6-screenish long stage, which may or may not be designed as an homage to an existing classic mega man stage (I've recognized a bunch of wily castles, Heat Man's stage with those damn disappearing blocks, and a few others). There's a warp at the end of each of these stages. Reach it, and you'll be warped to another randomly chosen stage. You have access to all of your special weapons. If you die, your high score is recorded as the number of screens traveled - my best is 50-something. The online ranking #1 is like, 955 or something. Awesome.
Eggman of the Strata
That does, in fact, sound awesome. Whenever I have 300 points left over, it'll be the first thing I buy.

Also awesome, is Orbient. I thought it looked familiar. Didn't realize it was Orbital, the best of the GBA Bit Generations games. Minimalist puzzles using only two buttons for gravitational pull or push in, and having to get moons and stuff of a certain mass to orbit you by absorbing other planetary masses, for $6? Hell yeah.

Endless Mode is more interesting to me right now than Protoman Mode. I was gonna pick it up last night, but I'm 100 points short and so didn't bother

So I bought this game today at a used game shop. Even I am not entirely sure why. The title is マクドナルド物語 (McDonald's Story) and the subtitle is as best as I can make out ほのぼの店長育成ゲーム (heartwarming store manager training game?) It has a picture of a cute anime girl holding a tray of McDonald's food and while I have not yet powered the sucker up I imagine from the screenshots that it is chock full of fry-serving action
