Tales of Graces f, although i almost don't think it should count, seeing as how the main reason i put so many hours into it is that Tales games are long and slow for the sake of being long and slow.

What games did everyone play the most in 2012? I don't care when they were released, just what you played the most.

Monster Hunter Tri G (3DS). First Monster Hunter game I've played, and while I suck it at, it's got me hooked. :x

[otherwise IIDX and more IIDX and more IIDX]
Jadin
halo? maybe last winter and magic and a lil 3ds and borderlands 2 and iidx and disgaea 2 I just started wizardry 7 and adom (like 3000 new bugfixes omg)
Eggman of the Strata
Looks like 68 hours on Infinite Space for me.
ErAseRmoTor maXimUM
"Beat mania 2: Deluxe" (a music game from japan)
lunatic rave 2, pc game similar to guitar hero
popn (rip [machine's ded ⟨should be fixed soon though {I hope}⟩])
EVE online (rip)
ae
m335h73r
most played 2012 games:

Tribes Ascend
Star Wars the Old Republic
Far Cry 3
Katawa Shoujo
Skyrim

This isn't counting the 300+ hours I soaked in freecell over the year for work either.
security tubbs
- Winter Voices for about ~300 hours (beta tester)
- Bejeweled 3
- Magic Sudoku (PSP)
- Just Dance 3/4
- Torchlight II

the sad thing is the only one of those I'm unsure about is Bejeweled.
spineshark
King of Fighters XIII
Persona 4 Arena
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (?)
Devil May Cry 3 (for AGDQ)
Akai Katana

Gungnir/Money Puzzle Exchanger/project diva 2 are games I played on my PSP all year, I guess they're pretty high
grayfox9996
Looking back, I actually played very little last year. I bought way more games than I should have, too. sad.gif

Probably Drop7 was what I played the most.
BigC
Most played games of 2012:
Some mario and pokemon games

2012 Backlog:
Too much
Buffalo
AE and then IIDX

360 red ringed so i cant play anything new :/
BigC
Speaking of pokemon I just finished black 2, the plot was underwhelming, the structure was pretty typical unlike the first black/white games.

I spent most of 2012 playing Disgaea, Mario, The World Ends With You, and a couple of the Ratchet and Clank PS3 games. Also revisited a lot of Katamari in the spring, and a bunch of other PS3 games I bought but barely played (LittleBigPlanet, for one).

Beat magikoopa and the jungle and ruin worlds in I Wanna Be The Galaxy. 3 hours played so far with 1600+ deaths lol
m335h73r
beat the water world and stuck at the jungle world now.

2700 deaths and 5 hours
grayfox9996
Beat Max Payne 3. Talk about a game improving in the last third - some of those later chapters were actually really fun. Certainly made it worth finishing, at least. The Imperial Palace Hotel was really well designed, in particular, and the airport had some pretty great sequences in there, too.
Mazrim
Mark of the Ninja is pretty awesome.
Eggman of the Strata
Hey Mazrim what was your time on ZOE2 HD and which system were you playing on? I'm sitting at about 1:31 on the PS3 version on a normal playthrough and I'm pretty sure I could get it down to 1:15 or less pretty easily. I kinda wonder how much slower the time is just because I'm playing on PS3 though. The load times seem kinda long.
BG_Hojo72
So...Infinite Space is pretty fantastic. Like, "I feel bad that I had no idea it existed on release and that I've gone for so long without it existing in my general vicinity" fantastic.
Eggman of the Strata
It also has a surprisingly really strong story and it's just really long and filled with stuff to do. And a great new game+ mode. It's probably one of the DS's best games.

1:31 on normal difficulty with regular Jehuty? That sounds pretty good actually. I play on the PS3 version and the general slowdown, especially when Jehuty is doing slash combos and dash attacks compared to the PS2 version has to add up in a hurry. Are you timing in real time or using the game's timer? Loading wouldn't matter in the game timer.

I lent out my copy of ZOE HD Collection to my brother so until he comes and visits I won't be able to check my time for a while. I'm betting my time is well over 2 hours since I had a terrible Vic Viper fight (probably over 10 minutes right there) and it took me about 8 tries to get Anubis in Compression Space.

Yes. So yes. Can't wait for Wii U VC official launch.

Anyone been playing Ni no Kuni yet?
Eggman of the Strata
I'd be playing it but Namco didn't ship my Wizard Edition until today. Except it's by 2 Day shipping and they didn't bother with Saturday delivery so instead I get it on Monday, which is retarded. They don't bother giving shipping confirmation, they don't ship it on release date, they don't have enough units to even fill preorders anyway, and then they cheap out on the actual shipping part of it on top of that. Hooray for having very little to play for an entire weekend where I want to stay inside.

Also I'm probably going to drop difficulty on ZOE2 down to Easy because it looks like every other run I can find is based off the game on Easy. Eventually I'll move to NG+ but I'm not even doing any real routing or anything so far. It's all just rushrushrushrush and finding which weapons to use on which bosses.
BigC
Earthbound is coming to the Wii U virtual console...in Japan only.

I remember when this would make me mad.

I stopped hoping really hard for specific VC releases about 3 years ago when it became apparent that it'd never realistically be able to provide every game you would want to be on there. For some things, you're just going to have to resort to emulation no matter what.

i own it! i've only played through like two hours of it though since other stuff has been taking priority for me : /

(namely those things are persona 4 golden, trying to finish darksiders so i can play through the second one, persona 4 golden, okami hd, persona 4 golden, black knight sword, persona 4 golden and persona 4 golden. yeah)

ni no kuni looks super super promising though and i like the battle system so i'm really excited to jump into it but i can't because school starts tomorrow
grayfox9996
I'm really excited to play it...but I just have so many games. It's hard to convince myself to buy yet another, no matter how much I want it :<

And yet, this is basically what the JP psone classics selection is like. Nintendo just failed to execute.

Too bad the US PS1 Classics section is still missing dozens of games and the PS2 classics might as well not exist. And it's like they aren't even bothering with updating PS1/PSP games for Vita now, which makes no sense.

Are they really done on Easy? That makes the boss fights about a million times easier. I'm surprised the game isn't run more by speedrunners. Maybe I should look into it some more.

I'm on a bit of a Zelda kick right now. Finished Link to the Past finally, played OoT again, playing Wind Waker now, will play Skyward Sword afterwards. Maybe I'll actually play Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess too.
Eggman of the Strata
Yeah, all of the runs I've seen, including the 56 minute segmented run are new game+ done on easy with Naked Jehuty. I was kind of surprised it had very few runs too. ZOE1 actually has an SDA entry but not 2 and I have no idea why considering how much better 2 is.

Yeah, certain times of the day there's multiple disconnects, usually early on. You play it later and night and you're usually golden, I went all last night with no d/cs. Should stablize as they patch it more and more.

Also, I got 4 Dota 2s I can gift on Steam, if you want to play and can't find an invite get at me, probably by posting here cause I dont usually log in to check PMs

EDIT: Oh god, his Vic Viper fight is amazing.

So I bought PSN plus since they're adding 3 extra months if you buy a year right now, can't wait to play uncharted on the vita for only an hour and not regret it since I didn't "pay" for it. I don't think 160GB is gonna be enough on my PS3 now though.

Welp, looks like I'm going to learn everything that he does. I still wonder how much slower the PS3 is overall but I think if I get PS3 time down to like around 1 hour, that would start to become comparable.

It's going to be a while before I actually get around to doing any of this since Ni No Kuni finally showed up though. And like, Rayman Legends is out soon and Fire Emblem and Bioshock Infinite and way too many games.
Mazrim
The only time the PS3 version is the same framerate as the PS2 version is during phase 2 of Inhert. You know, because completely darkness. Otherwise it will be way slower, since it's always crawling along when there's any more than a couple enemies on screen, and particle effects just kill the framerate even more.

I'm probably gonna try this out on the PS2, and single segment because...30 segments isn't fun to watch or play. Some things to consider:
- Figure out how to skip Ardjet 1's laser beam attack (assuming carefully timed shots just above half health, then hitting accurately to never give her a chance)
- Find out if Taper's location is the same every time. If not, he used the segment break to get the optimal situation. (1 broken, 1 more to be found)
- Vic Viper needs to be forced into a corner to be fast killed. Not sure if that is something that is consistently possible via AI manipulation.
- Find out if you can consistently get Inhert 1 hit by the Vector Cannon.
- Hope for good RNG on Inhert 2 (ie. he almost always comes to get you instead of making you fly to him)
- Will need to get really good on Compression Space Anubis. Even in this run he barely squeaks by...Anubis does insane damage and trying to beat him quickly will end many runs.
BigC
Hyrule Historia came in the mail today this is great, I can actually read the words now.

oh yeah the PS3 store is terrible, even the 3DS eShop is better
