Also, Expert Keys is really only fun for like, the last tier of songs. Roundabout is especially fun. I'm still getting the hang of pro keys. The octave shift things really mess me up a lot.

Yeah almost every chart I tried to play at my friend's house last night was like MASH THE SAME 1-3 CHORDS IN SEQUENCE FOR 30 SECONDS THEN GO TO A LITTLE PART WITH INDIVIDUAL NOTES THAT IS ALSO REPETITIVE. But then I've been a classical pianist for 16 years (starting from the Miracle lol) so I wouldn't say I was expecting it to change my life or anything.

I wish I wasn't so excited about this but nobody is ever going to make a new game quite like EP again so since I am going to be playing Persona 2 forever it might as well be slightly improved and portable.

Listen all I expect from my video games is to be Not Boring okay. RB3 looks, as always, really, really boring.

If I'm going to be playing videogames with people I didn't meet because of the internet, Rock Band is one of the preferable options. I'm not ever gonna sit down and grind it out on my own, especially since I'm better than everyone else even without that =p

you should check out the guy's other games. a lot of them are more "art demos" than they are "games" but uh there's nothing wrong with that.

Didn't he do Eversion as well? That was another really short game that didn't over stay it's welcome.
grayfox9996
So apparently Hideki Kamiya was the director on both Bayonetta and Okami which makes me actually want to give Bayonetta another chance. What makes the actual gameplay good, though? It really didn't click with me in the hour of the game that I played...do I just need to give it more time? Not that I have access to the game right now or anything. I did enjoy Devil May Cry 3 for the actual gameplay portion of it, so that could give me more reason to like Bayonetta if I ignore everything besides the gameplay.
Eggman of the Strata
You're going to be terrible at the game at first. It really comes through when you start getting more and more weapons and see how different their styles all are, but how they can flow together. And then taunting to keep your combo going. And then equipping accessories that give you even more abilities like countering and some other stuff. And Viewtiful Joe's Red Hot Kick. The combos are more about timing than anything else and the difficulty is just right.

nah jk Considering all the hilarious shit Inafune'd been saying lately, this seemed inevitable
sir nabsalot
MAN I just beat ch. 5 dark world in SMB and like half the levels didn't count; it didn't save >:(

but my scores are still on the leaderboard, soooo

...damn buggy piece of shit! great game though. some of the best challenge I've had since Trials HD. The puzzles aren't the trickiest in the world, but optimizing your run and getting your shit to execute is quite a bit of fun, and very rewarding smile.gif
Deets
Wow that's a pretty serious bug yeah

Now paranoid that my getting the Kid earlier did not save

Too paranoid to look.................
grayfox9996
Apparently I have several #1s in RB3, but the leaderboards aren't updating for me. Totally not fair. sad.gif
Eggman of the Strata
I have a whole bunch of #1's but only because I've been playing dlc songs that no one else really bought. I mean, there's a 99% chance that any of the Sleater Kinney songs have 0 scores. I was surprised that I was the only score on I MAED A GAEM WITH ZOMBIES IN IT drums though. It's so much fun.
BG_Hojo72
SMB and RB3 proves that fucked up leaderboards is the hip thing to do these days.
Schlagwerk
Oh then Sega is up on that trend. Nothing like Sonic 4 where you had to manually submit your score per stage and manually update.

Hardcore Gaming 101's article on Japanese gaming PCs was pure sex. I've always barely known a few of the players and the barest handful of games for the PC-8801/9801, X68k, etc but that filled in the gaps in my knowledge.
Also a year ago a friend was trying to get me to play Rayxanber 2 & 3 and I kept pushing it off. What a foolish mistake.

In RB3, I'm still dinking around on non-pro keys to fill out all the Goals but I guess when the game tells you you're in the 0% that means you're in the 100 percentile?
Oh and my 360 Elite died non-RRoD on Thursday. One refurbished Elite later...
rmz
So I hear that the Ys III remake is actually really good?
Deets
It's super good yeah
Mazrim
Plants vs Zombies was a good purchase on the 360 even with the steep cost. The co-op has been really entertaining, and single player is keeping the girlfriend up late at night playing all the damn modes just to fill her Zen Garden. Typical Pop Cap addictiveness!

The big negative we have for the game is from versus mode. There's literally no possible way for Zombies to lose. We have to give the Plants an artificial 30 second headstart, and even then, after 10 minutes it goes to Sudden Death, which helps Zombies more than Plants. The big problem is how cheap strong zombies are compared to plants. With the 30 second headstart, and my working my ass off, as Plants I was able to ALMOST beat the Zombies.

Otherwise, it's an awesome, awesome game.
Eggman of the Strata
Pinball FX2 is really fun. The new tables are actually super fun (although Rome is hard to read sometimes).

Also a nice challenge. It took me nearly 20 tries to beat the final boss on Inferno, it was fun the entire time, and I was shaking by the end. It's been a long time since I had a boss fight that awesome and intense in a video game
Though this was the PC version that's a little harder because it doesn't have new game+ nor Double Boost (which, among other things, gives you a limited life regen)

I agree on the new tables. I only checked out the demo and it's kinda obvious if a table is from FX1 or 2.
One thing I didn't like though is it seems balanced to be too easy compared to real pinball (or maybe I just play too much The Machine: Bride of Pinbot) and the physics engine doesn't allow the ball to ever leave the ground when bouncing around. I've played pinball simulators on the PC that do a better job in that regard. What's pinball if you can't scare the shit out of yourself by bouncing the ball off the top glass on a completely wild hit?
rmz
Maybe I should check out FX2...I've always liked pinball but never really owned any game versions before.

EDIT: Well, I had this one I guess
Eggman of the Strata
I'd say get either FX2 and the core collection 2 pack or find a cheap copy of Williams Collection for literally any system. I really liked how the PSP version let you turn the PSP sideways and play with it vertically.
Deets
FX2 still has the same awful table design every other Zen Software pinball game has. Stick with the Williams Collection. It's basically free, has some of the best-designed tables ever made and hilariously awesome physics that make you feel way better at pinball than you actually are. WIN FUCKING WIN
Jadin
just beat some amazin game called dragon quest 9!

more like dragon quest 9.5/10

Ys: The Oath in Felghana

Oh sure I've already played it to completion on all difficulties for the PC, but I felt like I should note it as a countdown to Trails in the Sky.
Only Ys I & II Chronicles left.

OK I guess Goldeneye Wii snuck up on me because it's out now apparently? And it's actually getting pretty good reviews which I did not expect at all.

I guess I'll probably buy it for nostalgia and because I need more decent Wii games...but mostly because the original was probably the N64 game that I had the most time clocked on, by far. The sneering can now begin.

So I got back to Demon's Souls after 10 months, and actually beat another couple bosses. How cool does that make me.

If they can come even close to replicating the fun I had with the original Goldeneye, then it will be a success in my eyes. I'll be getting it today.
Eggman of the Strata
I'm tempted to buy it too...but I don't especially need more good Wii games. I have like at least 10 that I've either barely started or haven't started at all and a few that I'm still in the middle of.

I think the N64 game I logged the most hours on was Harvest Moon 64.

First goldeneye thoughts: Much better than I expected. Missions are well done, and everything runs together very smoothly.

We're finding the controls VERY sensitive though...very tough to aim properly. Anyone else notice this? Even on the lowest settings it feels like it's way more sensitive than Prime 3 ever was. It's killing our fun for sure when you can't hit anything well.
Eggman of the Strata
You could try turning down the wiimote sensitivity in the actual wii system menu if it doesn't have that option in-game. It makes me sad that The Conduit sucked so badly because the one thing it had right was how crazily customizable the controls were.

A lot of people just have a really hard time coming to grips with the fact that they're bad shots with something that requires some semblance of real aiming instead of just some control sticks or a mouse though.
Jadin
lots and lots!

jamaal is great as laser tag
Mazrim
No, the Wiimote is just not that accurate. I had an easier time aiming in Prime 3 by far. We have almost all the sliders knocked down to almost the bottom and it still requires only a tiny movement of my wrist to move the cursor halfway across the screen. When I hit the home button, the cursor moves at a good pace that we're used to everywhere else. We spent almost 15 minutes adjusting sliders, and in the end just stuck it on intermediate controls which has some auto-assist crap. =\

In the end, the Classic Controller was still not a better option, so back to the Wiimote we went.
rmz
I'll have to try both Wiimote and classic controller/Gamecube controls to see which I like better.
Mazrim
I should note that if you zoom into the sights of a gun, aiming is much easier...we just haven't gotten it into our heads to constantly switch to that every time we want to shoot.
rmz
Eh, that's the way the original game was. You wanted to use the aiming reticle for pretty much everything anyway.
Eggman of the Strata
Anyone know if KoF2k2UM has good netcode or not? I might just buy it anyway unless someone can bring up some pretty big complaints against it. I can still find people to play it locally at least.

KoF2k2UMTE is newer and has a bunch of fixes. Not sure if it has online play but i know 98UM did.
