I also ordered a new 12 month XBL Gold card from Amazon for less than $35. Of course I went with cheap ass shipping so it'll be another week before I'll be online again.

I thought I saw you online, like, yesterday. Or did it just expire?

You can see me online even with a Silver account. I just can't partake in online multiplayer, some DLC/demos until a week after they've been released, and some Gold-exclusive deals

got the fastest time on lake powell on hydro thunder hurricane lol

1:39:39 not that it matters considering how long the game has been out
adammm
Ahh yeee son. Hydro Thunder is ok though, but ARCTIC THUNDER was my shit cause you could be a muthafuckin Gorilla and the cabinet at the Jungle would blow a chilly breeze in your face that smelled kind
of like melted styrofoam.
ErAseRmoTor maXimUM
uraghh the flashback I just had to tube chases at the jungle was kind of intense. I HAVE LOST MY YOUTH

but yeah they should make more games that blow things at you, in fact iidx and pop'n should blast air that smells like whatever the theme of the game is right into your face

perfume for empress, dog and the cold vacuum of outer space for sirius, wet asphalt for tune street
adammm
fuckin, the little bike kart things at the jungle where you spun the bars back and forth and they zoomed forward... good times

The ocean and piƱa coladas and dankass Hawaiian chrondaddy for RESORTANTHEM

I liked the demo, but not $15 worth of like.

can't use a joystick with Castlevania because you need the right analog trigger to change camera angle and zoom around the map?

that's cool I didn't really feel like buying it anyway.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. Not worth it anyhow. It'd justify the price point more if they had actually created new assets for the game. That and local multiplayer somehow.. like a smart splitscreen.

All the game really has to stand on is its multiplayer concept... which is kinda original and cool. But the gameplay is boring and clunky due to them simplifying Metroidvania's controls. Controlling Alucard in the demo was about as responsive as playing CastleVania I

WHAT! NO LOCAL? NO BUY

Fuck, I was looking forward to coming home today and buying that and playing it multiplayer RIGHT NOW (literally), but now I find out it has NO local multiplayer. fffffffuck

Anyway, I have a new computer, hooray. What should I get, besides Starcraft II (since my sister got it for me, hooray again)? I'm trying to avoid more strategy games for the time being, since SC2 is going to take priority on that front for a while.
Jadin
I got the demo
and seriously a time limit? fuck castlevania
also what bbh said. you can change all the controls (good) except the screen view change (wow) stays mapped to R3 or however they say it on xbox
Mazrim
From what I've read, the time limit is there to make you revisit the levels multiple times to gear up to beat the boss.

Is the game even worth playing single player? If not, I'll pass.
Jadin
definitely not
Schlagwerk
Like I said, the multiplayer is the only thing the game has going for it. So yeah, single player would suck
rmz
People are saying that the game is stupidly hard on single-player anyway, due to the way the game scales the difficulty depending on the number of players.
WILD RIDE
I beat Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for the 3rd time last night, and I was this close to having Aran and Meg in my top.5. Sorry guys, maybe next time. (lol, there won't be a next time)

I'm the only person on this site who has played that game, right.
Mazrim
Just checked out some castlevania screenshots, and I thought when they said "some assets" were reused...that would mean SOME, not all. Every boss is reused, every area is a mish-mash of old stuff, and every enemy is old. Ouch.

With the bad single player, no thank you.
grayfox9996
Yeah this is officially the worst Summer of Arcade lineup so far. Castlevania is terrible. TERRIBLE. So Limbo looks to be the only game that even interests me at all...and I'll wait for that to price drop like I did with Braid.
Schlagwerk
I'm loving Hydro Thunder Hurricane.

Limbo was okay.. if you're into moody, simplistic puzzle games that are trying too hard to be deep and have no replay value. I'm gonna wait for a 50% price drop before I pick it up for myself.

I'd play it if I could find it. It went from being $50 to no place having any copies ever.

They had several copies at K-Mart when I was there this weekend. My little brother remarked 'I forgot that we didn't own the only copy of that game that exists.'. Still $50 though.

Did you ever beat PoR. That snow chapter with the swordmaster boss really isn't that hard (it was you who said you were stuck on that chapter uh, like 4 years ago right. Somebody did, why do I remember that) if you use Tanith, have her summon her useless support units into Naesala's attack range, and then have Ulki talk to him, and then he'll talk to Reyson and all the ravens leave. Pretty sure the boss doesn't move, and neither do the guys standing next to him. (but the priest moves, uh-oh)
Eggman of the Strata
Yeah I eventually beat the game. I was trying to do a hard mode kill every boss game, which was hard. I don't even remember how I beat it, but I still have the save file somewhere.

Maybe I should just order it used from EB or something. It's $35.
WILD RIDE
I never even beat the Black Knight on normal, and I've beaten the game 4 times. My little brother did though, because the fight is 90% luck. I wish the game's actual hard mode was in the US version.

RD's not really all that great, but like any Fire Emblem game I like seeing numbers go up semi-randomly so I like it a lot. It's too bad Micaiah isn't really the main character though, and also that she and Sothe are garbage but you're forced to use them, and all of the new characters have crap availability.
Eggman of the Strata
Arc Rise Fantasia was a great game until it decided to give me dungeons with no save points and very hard bosses with no previous hints that they'd be able to instantly petrify everyone in my party. Or bosses that just pop up out of nowhere while walking through a ravine while I'm mostly dead. Or just down some random hallway. Hopefully it goes back to being a normal game after this.

so "until the characters opened their mouths" is how that should be finished right
Eggman of the Strata
I've had the voices off since the beginning so it's never bothered me. It really is a fantastic game though, aside from that difficulty spike thing.

Oh, also, PixelJunk Shooter is $5 right now. Pretty cool game.
sir nabsalot
Enjoying Limbo. Pretty easy, but clever puzzles, and I love whole feel of it. Surprisingly dark! I didn't expect I'd be solving puzzles with insights like "Aha! If I just grab that child's corpse and drag it over hereeeee et voila" :>
sir nabsalot
Just finished Limbo, and I loved it from start to finish. The atmosphere/style is a big part of that; I loved Out of This World (I didn't realize a few pages back that's what you guys were talking about when you mentioned "Another World") and Limbo definitely strikes a lot of the same chords. The gravity puzzles towards the end are genuine head-scratchers, and the music design is superb, complementing the graphics and play brilliantly. Definitely worth the money for me, replay value or no (I never felt the need to replay Braid either now that I think about it, and loved that game too). "Art" is kinda what you make of it, but Limbo is undeniably great craftsmanship.

God Thousand Arms was the best.

Scott Pilgrim's a pretty fun game. Lots of little hidden things and nods to other games and the soundtrack is really good.
kevin energy
scott pilgrim is pretty sweet. I only finished the first level but I like it a whole lot. it feels pretty good to have bought and played a new video game!
Deets
Persona-sama (one of the animators) over on selectbutton says they had the same amount of development time as Mega Man 2. Looks really good, all told!

I'm hearing a lot of things about glitches and locking up and stuff, though? Shrug!!!
grayfox9996
So Mass Effect 2 was pretty much the best Bioware game I've ever played. Finally, something surpassed MDK2! I'm sure most people prefer other Bioware games, but oh well. Couldn't handle any others until the ME series, and ME2 is well above the first.

Now I'm starting up Red Dead Redemption (finally), and wow the beginning is slow.

Been playing a lot of Mario Party recently. I'm still confused as to why the N64 games aren't on Virtual Console.
Jadin
because mario party's main mode is too random to be any fun. minigames are fun but only with 3 or 4 people playing because the cpu is terriblew

But VC works just fine with multiplayer - I've done plenty of 5-player Bomberman games with my old roommate and a bunch of our friends. Unless you're just talking about the game from a design perspective in general, as opposed to why it wouldn't be on the Virtual Console, in which case I do completely agree, of course, and Wii Party looks like more the same, except this time featuring "SPASTIC FLAILING" and Miis.
Tropical Pallete
Well, it helps for me that I have a little brother to play Mario Party with. I agree that it's pretty lame by yourself, though.
