I'm nearly a beginner, my best Beating_a_Dead_Horse.gif clear is VANESSA L14 (7*), and i've got a few 6*s, mostly I'm in the 5* range. I can A most 4*s and B (and pass) most 5*s. C (but fail) some 6*s. I can't full combo for crap. *oops, wrong key*

Lets get some mass 14key beginner rivalry started! I know there are more 14key players out there. Most of the Gold 14s have only about 5 people on 'em, including me. And yes, we'll have some horribly low percentiles, its true.

For reference:
Low end: Anybody with GOLD and 2 controllers. You'll catch up pretty fast.
High end: If you can AA some 4*s and a few 5*s, A 6*s, and pass 7*s.
Too good for this: AA most 5*s and below, and pass more than the occasional 8*.

(Yes, that 10* and others are mistakes on my part, i forgot to uncheck the cleared box. It takes a while to update. And those #1s are from nobody else playing the chart yet)

CALLING OUT DJ CLICK!

Well great to have you FAKR. Yeah, keeping your hands from getting lost seems to be one of the hardest parts. I found that alternating between easy and difficult songs worked well... get practice with harder stuff, get to rest and regain your bearings with easier, repeat. Though it seems like thats not hindering you too bad, you're absolutely trouncing me:

Difficulty Breakdown:
Light 14 - FAKR wins, 25 to 0
14-Key - FAKR wins, 1 to 0
Another 14 - Draw, 0 to 0

EX Breakdown:
Light 14 - FAKR wins, 16596 to 13239
14-Key - FAKR wins, 211 to 182
Another 14 - Draw, 0 to 0

Result:
26 to 0 (1:0)
and
16807 to 13421 (1.25:1)
FAKR wins, by 126 EX points for 26 songs.

I'm outclassed =\. Oh well, I've got some work to do... frickin AAAs =P.

Ha ha, I haven't forgotten about you, dude. Give me some time to update my crappy doubles scores. I'm going to have to redo every style, while also updating 10th-GOLD CS on singles. I can pass 4*s and a couple of 5*s. What Class Mode ranking are you on doubles? I vary wildly from style to style. GOLD CS doubles Dan Mode is really hard for some strange reason, while DD CS's was a joke. biggrin.gif

I would like to join even though I have no idea how this works? I entered some L14 scores today so they might show up in few hours in my sig.

for the time being I cleared all 4s and I started playing 5s.

You're right at my level on doubles. I'll show you how this works, though you don't have to do it if you don't want to.

See your VJArmy sig next to your name in the forums? Click on DJ Battle This User right below it.

Click the drop-down menu and put my DJ name (CLICK) on one and yours (STSUNG) for User1 and User2. Click the 'Go' Button.

Now you'll see the results. Highest EX score overall wins the battle.

Remembering that this is -GOLD DOUBLES- not all the stats are relevant.

Stsung: Do a djbattle, select Gold style. all our scores are compared, and summarized at the right... the exact string you'd use to battle me is http://vjarmy.com/iidx-next/djbattle.php?u...&style=gold

Click - Dude, you really REALLY need to put in some more GOLD doubles scores. You've only got 5 songs entered in.

Also: Just got 1-Dan on singles and doubles, and I've random/hard cleared every 4* (doubles) except for one which crashes my PS2.

Stsung, if you started doubles 2 weeks ago your progress is amazing. You're killing me. I started doubles over a year ago, and I'm still unable to read a lot of 4s.

Waffles, I haven't been able to update yet because of work. But today I'll throw up some doubles scores, I promise. My timing still sucks, though.

GOLD doubles Dan Mode is ridiculously hard in comparison to previous styles. I'm only up to 3-kyu, I can pass 1-kyu on 10th, Happy Sky, and DistorteD.

Waffles, what styles do you own, just out of curiousity? Is it just GOLD now?

I think Stsung is a Popper, and a pianist... both of which would help a lot with the doubles play. I'm a pianist and always played 1-hand 7key... (but she's way better, even if her scores aren't reflecting it yet)

Yeah, I've got US and GOLD. I'm thinking about getting another one, but I can't decide between RED, HS, and DD. Hehe, I did think that the Dan Mode in GOLD was pretty rough. 'Huh, 5s and 6s for 1-dan... OUCH' 2-Dan is a 6, then a 7, then another 7.

We've got a pretty massive skill schism, in your favor for 7key and in my favor for 14. I don't think I care to get better at 7key though, except to practice my individual hands...

=D. Keep it up buddy, you'll get better. I'd recommend you just playing through all the 4s on Gold, then HS, then Gold again (max retries per song per run=2)... you'll probably be able to hard clear them by then. That kind of training seems to work wonders. Also, just like with 7key, random is your friend (even though he likes to break your hands now and again).

hm...it took me few hours to get to level 6 level and I was quite surprised about it but a friend of mine told me that in 4 hours he got to level 7 songs level too. this might also depend on the singles level you have I guess? I have no idea what level you are at I guess I just would have to browse your scores or something.

(I think that it's more IIDX helping me play PNM ...not the other way round^_^)

(also ehm please someone don't kill me) what is all that shodan, nidan etc thing? I only play in free mode so I don't know much about anything else in the game. (except that well I know there are courses...)

A few hours to get to level 6? Oh My! What level were you at 7key? 8 or so? And your friend who got to level 7 songs in 4 hours must have been able to do at least level 9 songs.

Then again, Click can do those sorts of single songs. =P

Oh, the 1st Dan and 2nd Dan and such: On the console versions, there is a Dan mode (on Gold at least its the only option where the words aren't in English). There you can choose single or double, and once you do you're brought to a list of courses that go from easiest at the bottom to the hardest at the top. 5-kyu (doubles' easiest) are level 1,2,3 songs. 1st Dan is level 5,6,6 songs. It goes up to 10th Dan and then Kaiden (what does Kaiden mean?) which is the hardest, and passing it labels you a master of the game (it has the hardest 12s in that style).

kaiden means something like "full mastership" (that's after you were introduce to something (art/activity) and you become a master of it).
thanks for the info I will check it out maybe (when I feel better)

my level is something like 9 SP and my friend's level at that time was 10 SP. but when I started playing doubles I hardly played 7s. anyway I played some songs yesterday..not much so I will enter the data now..(or later this day)

UPDATE: I just went through 7/14[n] 4*s and 5*s (and a couple 6*s), scores are below others. For the most part, only played each song once.

Since us 3 seem to be near the same place, I might as well have all three possible battles. Remember, this is just GOLD. The complete DJ battles are below.

W0FL vs CLICK <---- CLICK is obvious winner
OVERALL WINNER: CLICK with 84% wins and +11% EX
SP advantage+++: CLICK with 100% wins and +16% EX
DP advantage++: WOFL with 93% wins and +20% EX

UPDATED W0FL vs CLICK <---- CLICK is obvious winner
OVERALL WINNER: CLICK with 84% wins and +9% EX
SP advantage+++: CLICK with 100% wins and +13% EX
DP advantage++: WOFL with 93% wins and +20% EX
Woo! Upped a lot of scores, and I still haven't won a single song.

W0FL vs STSUNG <---- NEITHER is obvious winner
OVERALL WINNER: W0FL with 54% wins and -1% EX
SP advantage+: STSUNG with 67% wins and +6% EX
DP advantage+: W0FL with 70% wins and +3% EX

UPDATED W0FL vs STSUNG <---- W0FL is winner
OVERALL WINNER: W0FL with 66% wins and +1% EX
SP advantage: STSUNG with 57% wins and +3% EX
DP advantage++: W0FL with 85% wins and +6% EX

CLICK vs STSUNG <---- CLICK is obvious winner
OVERALL WINNER: CLICK with 74% wins and +4% EX
SP advantage++: CLICK with 80% wins and +6% EX
DP advantage+++: STSUNG with 100% wins and +20% EX

Conclusion:
SP:
1. CLICK
2. STSUNG
3. W0FL

DP:
1. W0FL
2. STSUNG
3. CLICK

CONCLUSION:
I would actually say, though, that CLICK is the best, that STSUNG is next (did much better against click than I did), and that I'm last.

UPDATED CONCLUSION:
I actually still agree with my previous conclusion. My being rated close to STSUNG is probably a matter of 'if she played each song twice in a row and upped some scores I would be thrashed'. Also, I'd probably get put in my place if I had scores for more harder songs.

I always prefer to play all the songs once till I get back to replaying them. I played some other songs yesterday so my scores will get updated. but I don't know if I will replay gold songs as there are other styles laying around with no double scores entered.

Fair enough. I'm getting Happy Sky and DistorteD by... probably Monday or Tuesday. So I'm going to be expanding my list of doubles songs pretty vastly, which should in turn just make me flat out better.

However, Stsung, I'm requesting that you play the level 1-4 songs as well, besides just the 5-8 range or so that you're most comfortable with.

Also, this explains why you don't have any AAAs. In order to just play songs and get AAAs, a IIDXer has to be REALLY GOOD. Its like theres a formula. You get as many 'A's as qualifications you meet on a given song.

1) tongue.gif - Song is on the easier side for you.
2) Beating_a_Dead_Horse.gif - Played song over and over and over again.
3) ninja.gif - You're awesome.
4) ninja.gif ninja.gif ninja.gif - You're amazingly awesome

Right now, you meet 1 and/or 3. Thats why you've got a bunch of As and AAs. But you've got no AAAs cause you don't play the same songs over and over again, and you're not amazingly awesome yet. At least not to the point where you can sightread AAA songs. I would guess, that if you decided to play all the L7 4*s in GOLD, and play them each 3-5 times in a row, you would get at least 5 AAAs.

waffles speaks the truth.

My timing on doubles sucks right now because I've only played most doubles charts a couple of times - it usually takes me about 5-6 playthroughs to see any noticeable improvement on a song. It took me about 10 tries on Beginning Of Life N14 to get my 1st AAA on doubles, and it was right on the money at that. Took me about the same number of tries to get my 1st AAA on singles (on 5.1.1. no less). A lot of that effort was spent playing with Hi-Speeds to get to a comfortable reading speed. You'll notice I can't read doubles at the same speed I read singles on.

My green number (when you turn on Sudden+) in GOLD CS about 280-300, depending on the BPM of the song. I don't use Sudden+ for songs above 140 BPM. On doubles, my green number is much higher - around 700 or so. Which explains my crappy scores thus far. sleep.gif

Good thing there are PS2 -> PS3 adaptors... If IIDX goes triple, I'm definitely sold on the system even if though it's big enough to crush me to death in my sleep.

My green number (when you turn on Sudden+) in GOLD CS about 280-300, depending on the BPM of the song. I don't use Sudden+ for songs above 140 BPM. On doubles, my green number is much higher - around 700 or so. Which explains my crappy scores thus far. sleep.gif

Dude, how can you get anything besides goods on doubles? Geez dude, 700?!?! Do you use any HS at all?

I play Single with about 100-200 Sudden+ (white number) and about 320-350 green number.

I play double with about 100-150 Sudden+ (white number) and about 350-400 green number.

My scores, at least on GOLD, are fairly similar for each. I would highly recommend working on getting comfortable with more high speed on doubles. Seriously, next time you play doubles, start that green number at oh... 500 MAX, and work your way down until you're comfortable with 400. I bet your miss counts will double and your EX score will increase 10%. Note: you WILL miss notes cause you couldn't read 'em fast enough. Don't worry about it.

Why I say this: IIDX is too hard to be done in the frontal cortex, you need it to be in your brainstem. You already do this for 7key, now just force it for 14 and you'll be okay in no time.

Also, as soon as you can: start using Hard. If you fail a song a minimum of 2 times and a maximum of 3 without finishing it, go back to normal, for that song. It FORCES you to play well.
