Honestly, I was expecting something about Brett Favre in the first couple posts. Good to see there is none!

I've been watching a bit of the Olympics so far as well and it's been pretty good. I still enjoy the Winter Olympics more though. >_> 2010 can't come fast enough!

My friend who exagerrates everything said that Brett Favre is in serious danger due to the curse of being on the cover of Madden. In this curse, every player who gets on the cover of a Madden game will later suffer some terrible injury.

Maybe he would stay retired then.

You would think! God, what else about him, besides his bravery in the face of certain death.

OT I am learning how to golf, which is similar to a sport. It's the hardest thing I've ever done!

Let's talk about Brett's rocket arm. mellow.gif

Also, your post seems to imply that golf is not a real sport! The PGA thinks you might want to correct that. btns.gif

I was amused 6 months ago, yes. btns.gif

Also, some of the fun of the olympics has been taken away from me because Canada is really shitting it up so far.

all that free healthcare has made you guys weak and spongy

Well, Canada does spend only a fraction of money on it's athletes that most countries do, so yeah. I should probably make use of that health care thing sometime.

Mayweather Sr. should spend more time training his guys instead of talking junk. Talk about a beatdown.

Dear anyone that lives in Arizona:
Would you care if the Pheonix Coyotes left Glendale? Would you go to a hockey game if they were in the Stanley Cup Finals? Would anything they do make you care about them?

I'm curious, because the NHL commissioner really doesn't want Jim Balsillie buying the now bankrupt team. He is the CEO of RIM (they made the BlackBerry) and wants to move the team to Canada.

Yeah, that seemed pretty cut and dry. I'm sure Detroit will be able to bounce back, but if they don't...watch out.

Also, search "Calgary 2004 Finals Game 6" or something and watch the videos on the "phantom goal" that should have won Calgary the Stanley Cup. It's not nearly as obvious as the Detroit one but it's been a contentious issue since 04. (Find the video of the NHL awards where Ron McLean harps on the goal judges and asks the crowd who they thought won, haha)

Hey guys, the Winter Olympics starts tomorrow. smile.gif

Here's a convenient picture to help get you in the mood. She's only the face of the US team this year.

Hey Brent -
Sorry for your loss. If it makes you feel any better, they buried it on lo-def cable over here so that no one would have to watch it or care. Stupid Americans. Beating_a_Dead_Horse.gif

I managed to watch the entire game. Joscelyn gave up when the US scored their 3rd goal. I got to work this morning and it felt like a funeral just passed by. The country is drowning out their sorrows with alcohol.

Also, I have to chuckle at how badly NBC is using their olympics TV rights. Tape-delay pretty much every event, where the wonder of modern technology spoils everything before you get to see it? Check. Show Russia-Czech game but not Canada-USA on the main network? Check. The USA is cleaning house at these Olympics and NBC is trying their best to not show that. Even their hockey team is playing upset so far. I guess they really don't want people to see the USA double medal in the alpine events as it happens.

Now the Nets gotta regroup and call time out

If they get more than 10 wins this season I'll be disappointed.

I can agree that the media might be brutal when it comes to Crosby, but I think everyone can agree that yesterday was the most amazing Hockey game ever. That was such an intense and hard fought game, and it could have gone either way. I've read countless accounts of people who weren't in to hockey before now getting hooked.

The reaction in Canada (and my own) when Crosby scored was amazing, and definitely something I will never forget. It's one of those "where were you" moments for Canadians, especially since you could not make a more dramatic finish.

The crowds in downtown Calgary was almost as electric as when the Flames made their 2004 Stanley Cup run. It was even better in other cities.

The ratings NBC got for the game are definitely going to give Bettman something to think about for 2014.

In other news the NFL Scouting Combine was a trending topic on twitter over that game. btns.gif

In a way, I hope the Pheonix Coyotes are forced to leave town this off-season, because I really don't like the sound of the "Glendale Coyotes". Good attempt at knocking off Detroit though guys, I really enjoyed watching that playoff series. I was especially impressed that enough people cared to come out and watch the games, although I was tempted to find a cheap way down since tickets were like $50 for lower bowl.

Oh god.
If the Atlanta Hawks manage to lose 4 games in a row and get ousted in the first round, people will be calling for Mike Woodson's blood.

They should ask the Washington Captials for advice on how not to run the table.

No, seriously, good series, but double seriously, GO WINGS.

I'm glad the wings made it, though I have to hope they don't make it this year only because my pool rides on them losing in the Western Final to Chicago.

Detroit over San Jose
-------------------------------Chicago over Detroit - Chicago to win the cup over Pittsburgh
Chicago over Vancouver

My Eastern Conference picks are fucked so we won't discuss that. btns.gif

Never thought I'd find a Boston-Philly game entertaining, but damn, that was impressive. Playoffs are so good this year. smile.gif
