Keep at it man, you seem to be doing okay for a beginner. How long have you been playing?

Uhh

You've got the innovative no thumb one hand playstyle. Let's see how that fares.

Five months? Hmm. Have you put much effort into two-handed play? I wonder if that might be holding you back, using one hand.

i just cant get the feel for it no matter how hard and long i try i feel better with 1 hand my chases of passing songs have doubled

my only prob seems to be that the keys are to smooth and im thinking about replaceing them with something rough

I used to play one handed myself. If you are going to do it, I really suggest you learn to use your thumb, even if only for one single key. Just use the side of your thumb, sort of like how you hit the space bar on a keyboard. Since you play left side, I swear just about every song in the game has the bass on the 1 key, and I learned to tap my thumb completely independently of the rest of my fingers.

I suggest fingers as such to learn (Note, keys are numbered from left to right, 1 is left most white key, 2 is left most black, 3 is 2nd from the left white ect)

1- always thumb
2- always index
3 - usually index, sometimes middle, depending on key pattern (23). Maybe a thumb for 356 pattern.
4- middle almost always, maybe index for a few patterns, only time I reccomend using the ring is if you had a 1234 key hit
5- ring almost always, or index if you need to hit 56, which was the bane of my existance as a one hander. There is literally no easy way to hit it that doesnt make you turn your hand off the rest of the keys, or crossing your fingers really weird.
6 - always ring
7 - always pinky

As you can see, 5 keys have just about completely dedicated fingers (put your thumb on 1, and pinky on 7, and your other 3 fingers should naturally rest on the top 3 keys). It makes learning pattersn much easier when you can count on hitting 5 of the 7 keys.

Yeah Nahbien is right; learn to use that thumb ALOT. =)

Took me a while to get used to it too, but then again, I learned everything the hard way. <_<

Also, good job and commentary (lol) on your vids. =P

remember to change positioning as you play, your play style with evolve the longer you play no matter what play style you use.

also I like to watch videos of other players to get a feel for thier hand positioning.

I haven't said this often but if I didn't watch and imitate the CStar video of him playing gigadelic then I wouldn't have jumped up to tens as quickly.
