I had an online friend in california about three years older than me and he was married for about two years.

I personally think it's really odd for people my age to get married due to the fact that I mostly consider early thirties to be "that time to settle down".

so in this thread, we talk about relationships.

So you're saying you should be able to act like this to a forum administrator, or a teacher, or a police officer, or your own parents and get away with it. You're supposed to respect these folks.

If you or a friend has the Sailor Moon S (uncut) boxset, or any of the Sailor Moon movies (uncut), and would like to sell or trade them, please contact me!

This can not possibly end well. People criticizing other peoples' life choices especially when it comes to love is only bound to piss off everyone involved.

Chalk up another vote for "undecided"...

I enjoy my solitude to the point where I become aloof and distant at times.
Two qualities that don't add up to stable relationships.
I hunt and peck, but at 25 years of age, I have yet to enjoy any sort of long-term deal...

yeah there tends to be this shrowd of mystery whenever it comes to deep hearted relationships like that.

I used to belive that I was in one a long time ago but now I meerly put it off as puppy love.

but someone once told me that when you see that first person and they stay in your mind it means you missed the right one for you.

and if it happens to not work, then it wasn't the right person.

I went with undecided because there's no plain "single and not particularly worked up about it one way or the other" option.

Or just "Single" also works.

I kinda feel the pressure from time to time, though, because as a grad student I don't really have a lot of free time to mix and mingle, yet it seems like almost everyone in my department is engaged or married.

I honestly wasn't thinking about that, probably because if I said who I was thinking about people would make fun of me.

Uh. Marriage is just a symbolic front for love. I see it as unnecessary and it's currently just causing asinine political disputes over gay rights. I'm not into that shit, personally. If I loved another man though I wouldn't throw a fit over not being able to get "married" though. Just my opinion, I'm a bit too young to be talking about this, probably...

Uh. Marriage is just a symbolic front that's caused political disputes over gay rights. I'm not into that shit, personally.

People are, however, into having legal rights to living-will authority, insurance benefits, and visitation rights.

People who insist that "omgz marriage is the establishment and it's, like, THE MAN so you have to fight the power yo" don't really seem to look beyond trying to rebel and see that there are actual real reasons in today's society that getting married is smart if you have a permanent relationship with someone. Permanent as in, "until death unless except in extreme circumstances."

Ethics aside -- I don't give a shit if you're gay or purple or inside-out or whatever -- I just think that if you can get married and plan to be together until death, you're kind of screwing yourself later in life if you don't. They're the same reasons that gay couples get screwed in cases of living wills and whatnot -- if you're not married, you're in the same boat.

Okay I reworded my post before readings yours, rmz...I can see the valid points to marriage but I can't see myself dedicating myself to it yet. Not necessarily ever. I'd have to be absolutely sure about it if I wanted to commit to something like that...about a year ago, I said that about love in general, and now I am in love...dry.gif...heh.

Overall, I'd rather not stress out over this shit unnecessarily. tongue.gif

Chill out, I don't see how anybody on a forum would get you that riled up. You and Spiral are both really cool guys, there's no need for such animosity :<
