Since it doesn't seem to me that people (for one reason or another) are not aware...
Hard/Easy modifiers weren't available prior to 6th Style, so how exactly are people claiming to be using said mods for songs that were never revived beyond 5th Style? I even made a list to break it down for songs on CS releases that are impossible to use Hard/Easy on: 3rd Style: 22DUNK / SLAKE Artificial Impatience / SYMPHONIC DEFOGGERS Beat Machine / CRUNKY BOY JR. been so long / m-flo Brazilian Rhyme / Satoru Shionoya + Satoshi Tomiie BRILLIANT 2U / NAOKI - DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX celebrate / JJ COMPANY Cold Pulse / QUADRA w/ DJ FX Dancin' Into The Night / good-cool Deep Clear Eyes / QUADRA - beatmania 2ndMIX deep in you / dj nagureo - beatmania 4thMIX ~the beat goes on~ Digital MinD (A/T Libra mix) / TaQ diving money / QUADRA Do you love me? / reo-nagumo - beatmania 2ndMIX DREAM / SHIN Murayama feat.mari saito e-motion / e.o.s - beatmania (3rd Style charts only) five fathoms (beatmania II special version) / EverythingButTheGirl g.m.d. / DJ mazinger featuring Muhammad GAMBOL / SLAKE Garden of Love / DJ Mazinger Get me in your sight / SYMPHONIC DEFOGGERS Get on Beat / ON Headache / good-cool Hitch Hiker / good-cool I Was The One / good-cool I'm In Love Again / dj TAKA into the world / QUADRA jam jam reggae / Jam Master'73 - beatmania Junglist King (long) / Hirofumi Asamoto(ram jam world) Junglist King / Hirofumi Asamoto(ram jam world) Keep on Movin' / NMR - DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX L.O.T. I know that there are songs in that list which did make an appearance in BMUS where you can use Hard/Easy, but would it be possible to disable the option to change the gauge for Hard/Easy on said songs when inputting scores for said songs under 3rd-5th Style? Another thing I noted is the fact that for some of us, we have to change what HS we use for certain songs if played on 3rd/4th Style, as opposed to other mixes that they appear on (my normal comfortable reading speed for 150 is HS3, whereas on 3rd/4th my comfort for 150 is HS2). Just a thought for the latter, but it just makes sense to me to differentiate mods based on what style they're played on. -------------------- ![]() |

Possibly they thought the Expert lifebar mod was the same as hard? No clue on Easy.
I agree with the high speed thing too. HS1 is the same always. HS2 on 3rd=HS3 in 5th and beyond. HS3 on 3rd=HS5 in RED and beyond. HS2 on 4th=HS2.5 on RED and beyond. HS3 on 4th=HS4 on 6th and beyond. I dunno if there's really many instances where browsing and seeing someone's high speed will actually matter "oh wow he got AAA while using HS2, maybe I should too", but regardless for songs in 3rd and 4th it isn't very descriptive unless whoever input the score also commented "3rd" or whatever. -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Re easy/hard, your lists aren't that great, you have a bunch of songs that didn't make it to home versions and a lot of songs that were revived in later styles, plus you're missing things like Genom Screams [3rd] where a tracker was added for a specific chart that changed on later styles. Do you have specific examples of where you're seeing a hard or easy where it's impossible? Really though, it's not something that affects much in the grand scheme of things. The hi speed thing would be nice, but depending on how they're stored it might take a rework of the db architecture, and then you have the problem of "what to do with existing data" especially on songs like e.g. I Was The One where the HS values might be from 3rd or Empress, who knows. That's not even including the fact that I bet a lot of HS values are inaccurate because people didn't bother to input them, or started on a slower HS and didn't use the full score entry page on later plays at a higher HS. I know I didn't on a lot of songs on L7. |

Maybe I should just rephrase what i'm saying.
*clicks on Calcutta in 3rd Style* *clicks on Speed setting, notices HS settings reflect what is available in 3rd style* *clicks on Gauge, notices options that are not available in 3rd style* If they're able to keep the HS setting consistent with each style, what's so difficult about removing Gauge options from the dropdown menu for earlier styles during score entry? -------------------- ![]() |
