If this works decently with keyboard (and is accessible from outside Japan) I might actually start playing IIDX again! Holy shit!

Good thing there are PS2 -> PS3 adaptors... If IIDX goes triple, I'm definitely sold on the system even if though it's big enough to crush me to death in my sleep.

I think it was found that it's not a region lock but some obtuse browser compatibility issue that people assumed was a region lock issue? Or can someone definitively say that there is a region lock?

Dunno for sure if it had region lock but it looks like once you set IE as your default browser it'll run no matter where you are. It's worth noting that there's no "This game is for sell and use in Japan only" warning on startup like what you see in the AC games, just a warning about not playing too close to the monitor.

apparently the actual problem was that your computer clock needed to be set to within the hours of the test to install, so you had to change it if you were in a western timezone

Dafuq?

Looking at the requirements page, I'd probably need to get a new computer for this (mine usually runs at 1.4GHz).

Looking at the FAQ (with Google Translate), it doesn't appear that they intend to support the PS2 controllers, or make a new PC based controller. This makes me sad.
