The game looks childish. What should the cabinet look like?

Candy Cabs don't force you to sit down...

And this is a Pop'n forum so uh, yeah, if you like Pop'n enough to post here that's a pretty dumb opinion to have.

What the fuck, no you're retarded. I like Pop'n a LOT, I wouldn't have played it enough to pass every song pre-Party etc., but the appearance of the game will make it NEVER pick up steam outside of Japan. Not even Asia, Japan. The machine makes it look like a very casual "party" arcade game, not the kind of game that will attract legions of competitive players.

Like Xythar said, it looks like Bishibashi Panic or, um, whatever that game is called, aka the kind of game couples at the arcade play and go TEE HEE and then they never really touch it again. It doesn't look like, for example IIDX, which is huge and scary looking and doesn't at all look like the kind of game that you can play without being a serious gamer. I don't PERSONALLY think the game looks childish, but I think it appears childish to others, and as sad as it makes me I'm pretty sure I'm right.

If you say so. I can't see any possible way it could be popular in America.

Well, a lot of other non-DDR music games are popular outside of Japan in Asia (I mean very popular) but Pop'n will probably never pick up steam, the way I see it.

Yeah to clarify, I'm not saying I thinkg Pop'n is childish, I think that the fact that it gives that vibe to others is unfortunate because I really like the game.

This is true. When I was there there were TONS of people who played GFDM, tons who played Jubeat (because it had just come out), and some that played IIDX (probably not as many as there would have been otherwise, because it was only Troopers AC and the CS had already come out), but hardly anyone played pop'n. The only people I ever saw play it were people who played IIDX mostly and pop'n a little bit, and a couple of girls. I would say pop'n appears more girlish than childish, even in Japan apparently there are more girls who play pop'n than guys.

I saw guys playing it more often than girls when I was there, but that's true for arcade games in general. Plenty of girls go to game centres but most just go for UFO catchers and purikura.

edit: also bishibashi / rhythm tengoku

The two times I went to that arcade in Queens, it seemed like Pop'n was more popular. This one black guy with wild hair was on the DD for like a half hour, but other than that it didn't seem like it got much action. Case by case basis I guess.

Great, I finally get to play this and I'm so out of practice that I fail every 40 and 39 I try except Battle Symphony. sad.gif

Midnight DnB EX has to be one of the most fun 38s ever, on top of being an awesome song.

Capsule Princess EX is NOT a 34.

Butter-FLY EX could have had a way more interesting chart sad.gif

Apparently DJ Yoshitaka did the vocals for Cyber Western, at least according to the Crazy Operation booklet. Huh.

Also I have two issues of the pop'n music mini magazine and it's pretty sweet.
