I might be going on Sunday to pay my respects.

Time to get blisters from Pop'n for one last time.

Today was the last time I went. It was raining, pretty appropriate since it contributed a funeral-like mood to the atmosphere. The last song I ever played at AI was D [a], and I cleared it which was nice.

AI literally has Resort Anthem (some sync issues mentioned) and DDR X2. (with joint premium apparently awww yeah)

So glad they didn't close, will probably visit next month if I have time.

Amazing how we went from "RIP AI" to "NEW GAMES AT AI".

I've never experienced it first hand though.

Over the years I just ignored any "AI is closing" rumors because they usually did not come true but this one was a close call.

realtalk moment

I started going here when they had Happy Sky and it was the only place I could play a good IIDX game until I modded my PS2 a few months later. I also was able to get into the other bemani games like GFdm and Pop'n Music thanks to this place. I have not met that many people from the community since I went on Sundays when nobody was there, though there is a possibility I have but didn't realize it. Usually though I would meet strangers and talk about the finer things of music games, like the time I met some guys who drove all the way from Utah, that's how good this place was. I did at least have a chance to knowingly meet someone from this site (onipa) a month ago which was pretty HAT. It was a dope place and I blew so much money on it over the years, it's gonna suck not having this arcade around anymore. In fact that whole plaza is probably fucked, like for example that CHINESE restaurant downstairs closed recently and it sucks because it had good food and that other restaurant is always closing every other season, gl to those other places they'll need it lol. Best thing to do now is hope the IIDX machine stays in the L.A. area, can't let those NorCal scrubs have the only Resort Anthem machine in California!

As my people would say, "Vaya con Dios."

edit: I just remembered I also met AnxD once he asked me how to access the Daisuke expert course in Empress AC ehuehuehuehuehue

If dj jeff owned a machine you'd have to deal with his dancing on every song you play.
If schala owned a machine you'd have to beat a Zelda game with no items blindfolded to prove your worthiness.

I still haven't gone to this place ever since I stopped by in early January and it looks like I wont get a chance to go before they close.

I hope the IIDX machine doesn't end up with some guy who will only let his ~iNnEr CiRcLe~ play it.

Round 1 getting the IIDX machine makes no sense. R1 has ties with Konami (literally got a somewhat localized XG machine in America) and as far as I know that IIDX machine is not exactly Konami approved.

I was talking more about how that IIDX machine was probably illegally imported, like most of the DDR machines in this country. Don't know if having a machine like that at R1 would fly well with Konami.

Also was today the last day of AI being open? Either way I'm gonna pour 40 oz. of boba tea on the curb for the fallen homies.
