Seeing as 2007 marks the 10th anniversary of their flagship rhythm game series, I would be quite surprised if some sort of special console and/or arcade release isn't in the works. Hey, maybe we might finally see a BM III + the Final for PS2!

I wouldn't be surprised if they had some kind of big event, or at least a special "anniversary celebration" feature worked into their games where you can unlock really old revival songs or something.

The 10 year anniversary sounds like a pretty good time to announce Beatmania IIDX15: The Final. I'm sure it would be a great sendoff.

Here come the rumours.

OMG THE END OF IIDX.

Here's hoping they port more awesome 5key songs to IIDX like they did with Rugged Ash, but THIS TIME PLEASE GIVE US NEW ANOTHERS.

I hope the annibersary results in more old songs seeing (j-, 80's, ghost, take your pick) revival.

Are you a fuckin' ass? It seems every time a new style comes out since 10th, we get a bunch of goddamn IIDX doomsayers clogging up Bemanistyle with their asinine posts with such PROFOUND SPECULATION such as "Well 10 is the penultimate number and One More Lovely is harder to pass than anything ever so this is probably the last style" or "Happy Sky would be a good ending since it ends on such a peaceful (summer) note...also Mei is so above and beyond anything else that I can't imagine there'll be anything after this." Make up your own asinine reasons for RED, DistorteD, and GOLD when that comes out, but the bottomline is IIDX isn't going to die unless interest wanes in Japan or the artists all stop producing music. If DDR is any indication, then we'll still see a buttload of mediocre home versions afterwards, however (Although beatmania The Final never made it on PS2, but did that ever have such a fanbase? Hmm.) But until then, I guess we'll continue seeing such retarded posts as "Well IIDX17 is probably the last one because on Neon Genesis Evangelion there are 17 angels so I think this makes total sense."

Also, if IIDX died I would still be trolling and rolling across the internets. ~you know how we do~

Thanks for saying everything I wanted to say, Oni+.

Seriously, people have been coming up with one reason or another why "this style has to be the last one" since like 8th. If the game is still popular enough to garner 2-hour lines to play at TGS, Konami's going to keep making it.

Perhaps Konami could release a version which would (with the use of a hard drive like 5th) allow the player to upload songs from existing style game discs to another media and play them in the current style. Yes, that would be awesome...

(hah. fat chance this is gonna happen)

VIRTUAL MIND

By the way, Oni totally misused the word "penultimate."

penultimate

adj : next to the last; "the author inadvertently reveals the murderer in the penultimate chapter"; "the figures in the next-to-last column" [syn: next-to-last] n : the next to last syllable in a word [syn: penult, penultima]
