Bemanistyle's got an MP3 up of Speedy Cat.

It sounds pretty authentic. I think I can hear "Speedy Cat" in the vocals at a few points and at the very least it has that "CHHHK" sound that's oh-so-favourited in IIDX eurobeat music (although usually NAOKI's).

How about this as the next 9-star song:

Curious item in today's Konami newsletter:
QUOTE
Someone please translate properly?
Babelfish Translation:
QUOTE ("Babelfish")
"IIDX has been about to receive the 11th work gradually, but something the new element is the desire forcing. Being to think, that we want adopting long note privately, it does, but how you think? "-> With Dance Dance Revolution and the like the long note which is adopted. You will expect IIDX future to.

Excite.co.jp translation:
QUOTE ("Excite.co.jp")
although "IIDX makes the 11th work the method of welcoming soon -- some -- a new element -- avarice [ ] -- carrying out -- it is -- it is . Although it thinks that I want you to adopt a long note individually What do you think? Long note adopted in"->Dance Dance Revolution. Future IIDX Let's expect.

Freeze notes in IIDX? Like the ones in O2Jam? Could be interesting...

I've been wondering for a long time why they haven't put freeze notes in IIDX. I think it'd be an interesting concept, as long as it could be turned off, a la DDR.

I won't ever enjoy a notesmash song with freezes. EVER.

It would add another gameplay mechanic, and change is sometimes good to keep a game from dying away, so I might welcome freezes. Beatmania got the long spins near the end, which I think are fun, get to do a big 360 on the turn table, yeah.

I doubt that it's just you... They didn't fix the timing in IIDX 10 Style, they only made it worse by making the JG timing window much smaller. Right now, I just want to see them fix the timing in 9th Style if and when the CS version comes out.

It's been said dozens of times before -- if we get a 9th Style CS, there will 99% likely NOT be timing issues. The timing issues in the arcade version were caused by a change in hardware and the move to Windows XP-based software. Since 9th CS would be running on the same ol' PS2 hardware, there would be no reason to have timing problems at all.

I've been waiting for them to introduce holds. It's just inevitable. Then expect an appearance of Henry Henry from KBM.

Oh, and gigadelic still sounds like an off-balance washing machine.CHUNK CHACHUNK CHACHUNK

Thing is, it isn't just the hardware or Windows XP that makes the game synced incorrectly. If Konami wanted to make the game synced right on XP, I'm sure they could do it. But the entire IIDX engine was reworked for 9th. Changed completely since 6-8. It's not the XP that's making the game off sync, it's the engine itself.

When this is translated over to PS2, who knows if it's going to sync well or not? In a nut shell, hardware or windows xp is not the deciding factor on 9th being in-sync on PS2. The new game engine is the thing being transferred over to PS2, which happens to be the problem. So... I guess all that's left is to wait for 9th...

Oh, and pray.

They'll probably just do what they've always done -- reskin an old Style. If you look, almost all of the CS styles are identical except for the skins they're using -- they all have the "Press Start" logo screen, then it goes to the main menu, and all of the options below the main menu have pretty much always been the same. Training Mode, the Options menu, and the screen you see before you go into Free Mode have been identical since 3rd Style, even.

I don't think they're going to port over the new engine.

But the new engine looks and runs completely different from all other prior styles. It has more animated backgrounds, new play screen animations(When the lanes light up, they animate sorta! blink.gif ), new everything.

Konami has a tendancy to find a certain interface and stick with it for a while, doing some minor reskinning and tweaking. Such is the case with Max-Extreme and IIDX 6-8. Only thing, is that 9th is the next complete redo of the interface. So I honestly doubt they'd just completely skip that... not to mention if the following styles would use the same reskinned interface. Would 10 and 11 still come out on 6th's reskinned interface? That would be like putting Max on 5th mix's interface.(Minus the freeze arrow dealies...)

But yeah, I still think they're going to transfer over 9th's interface. They would need to for 10th and above. But how well it's transferred over remains up in the air... We can all just hope.

I think they could just retool the old stuff into 9th basically. The animations aren't new, i mean they've been in Pop'n for awhile so they obviously have PS2 experience for that effect with 9th's blue ring notesplashes. Yes there are alot of new (and very cool) animations here and there, but it really shouldn't be that terribly difficult to pull off. I've played a 9th Style, its very pretty, but there isn't too much that would make them have to use a new interface to achieve. This is of course my opinion biggrin.gif
