This is being posted like mad all over the web right now. Basically:

beatmaniaIIDX ~DistorteD~ (having dropped the "13" suffix completely, apparently)

Due out in March 2006. A dark, black theme.

I'm still a bit skeptical, but most of the Japanese sites that I've looked at seem to be in agreement about this so I figure it's worth posting. Take it with a grain of salt, and maybe we'll see a flyer for it in the next couple days if it's indeed real. If it's true, which is possible, it'll be something to look forward to.

There was a lot more text in the announcement (standard stuff describing the game's theme, thanking the users for the tremendous amount of support the IIDX series has gotten lately, promising high-quality songs, and all that), but it wasn't terribly important and this board mangles Unicode anyway.

Kidding, I honestly hope it's true, because it sounds pretty cool. Haha. biggrin.gif

speaking of our hands, if this is the case, kiss your finger joints goodbye sad.gif

I honestly thought 12th would have been THE FINAL though. Isn't IIDX all but dead in Japan?

M'eh, it's an interesting curiosity but most of us aren't going to see this for another year and a half. I seriously doubt I'll be into IIDX by then. It's all kinda been downhill after 10th Style, so give me my 10th CS already :}

Alright then.

I wonder what manner of obscene psychosis this new style's OMES will hold. Also, I'm calling OML, Antares, Mei and the new OMES being upgraded to a new Flashing 12 rating. You heard it here first tongue.gif

Remember, assuming the name and 'ambiance' are true, they don't necessarily set the stage for the song list. When I first heard Happy Sky, I was afraid that half of the list would be Pop'n-ified. I mean, we had our Happy Angel and POODLE!, but ...

... hmmm. Now that I think of it, there isn't really an immediate example of a "dark" theme appropriate for "boss music" off of Happy Sky. Xepher's upbeat, but nothing along the lines of Fake Time or Gigadelic.

Still don't get why people say that. For all I hear of 10th having the most songs "worthy of being song-of-the-style if they were on another style," the soundtrack's failed to stand out to me.

On the other hand, I liked both RED and Happy Sky, more so when I was actually playing the songs. I'm hoping the proof's in the pudding, and 10th Style will click when I actually get to play it. (But that's neither here nor there.)

Happy Sky was the 12th Style. Max rating was a 12. We'd now be on 13th. You do the math. smile.gif

Of course, the REAL relevant question - who will the 9th Goli Girl be? biggrin.gif There's got to be one, there's been a new one for every style from 8th on (except for 10th, where his work was pretty much absent for reasons I've never really gotten clarified).

Wow, this seems really soon after Happy Sky. But hey, I won't complain if they want to keep making a lot more of these.

That's a point. (No, not the "Last IIDX" thing.) Give Lil and/or Nyah their own cover. Pretty much everyone else has had one, although Tsugaru and Iroha had to share the stage on theirs.

Or you could just gothify Nyah for the shot and let the two of them run wild. That could work, too.

("Gothify?" huh.gif)

From what I understand he was in the hospital or something of the sort... wait that was TaQ but it was some personal reason.

So I guess the shorthand for this one will be IIDX DD...

"IIDX DD, it's BIG" >.>

I don't think there can be anything harder than mei without being rehashed. How bout a remix of max300? DISTORTED (with some semblence of melody since Max300 DISTORTED would sound even more like noise). Random 12th and 16th notes every so often at 300-ishBPM, with more complex rhythms than Max300 has. I mean come on, Max300 is fun already, and definitely isn't considered up there with the recent OMESs. They already screwed it up by making Sakura's notechart, so now they could redeem themselves.

I thought about Scream Squad, yeah ... but even that had a certain level of ... I dunno, "Jazz Bounce" in the undertones? Probably not the right way to describe it.

Either way, even if the ambiance is dark, that doesn't mean the OMES couldn't end up being a remix of "Make A Difference," as long as the chart complexity was there. Of course, to many people, that mght be one of the Darkest, Blackest Themes of them all Beating_a_Dead_Horse.gif ...
