KONAMI SPINS OUT beatmania, THE FIRST INTERACTIVE DJ SIMULATION FOR THE PLAYSTATION®2

Leading Music Game Publisher Brings Club Atmosphere into the Home With Its Latest Innovative Music Game

LOS ANGELES – Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) Booth #800 – May 17, 2005 – Konami Digital Entertainment – America, a division of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced beatmania™ the first DJ simulation created for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. beatmania continues Konami’s tradition of innovation, expanding upon the company’s groundbreaking library of music video game franchises that include the award-winning Karaoke Revolution and the hugely popular Dance Dance Revolution. Providing an unparalleled interactive audio and visual experience, beatmania actually lets gamers create and perform their own tracks as it brings the pulsing energy of the club into the home.

“Just like DDR and Karaoke Revolution, we expect that beatmania will develop a strong core following and take off as another ‘must-have’ party game for people of all ages,

fuck goli and all that anime bullshit. the mere inclusion of both g.m.d. AND s.d.z. makes every previous iidx release seem like a disappointment. I'm buying ten copies of this when it comes out and will rub them all over my balls. ALL of them.

Silvia Drive is also nails-on-chalkboard horrible, too; again, the chart is decent but Noria's attempt to out-yodel backyard dogs is a mind numbing atrocity.

In with the positive before all the negative.

I'm not saying I'll be buying every US release, but I have faith that they'll not suck and that I'll stock up on the cheap controllers.

...Actually, yeah. This is really, really, really cool news.

Where's this from?

The 50 songs thing is a little annoying. Gee Konami, you've only got the rights to over 300 past IIDX songs, don't use them all up at once or anything.

This thread needs sticky.

Hopefully they'll put a decent assortment of songs in this game and not load it up with stereotypical rap and hip-hop licenses. And hopefully the JG window won't be outrageously huge. e_e

I'm sincerely hoping they don't fuck with the timing windows simply for the headaches that will cause to this entire site. Remy'd have to either completely exclude US Beatmania from the ranking or make a whole separate ranking for it if that happened.

It'd also be nice to see a similarly high level of maximum difficulty. I don't mind if they make all the new licences like 1 or 2 stars on light 7 and call light 7 the 'normal' difficulty as long as they still have 7 key and another as like 'expert' and 'master' or something.

I do foresee the licences all being really easy if it's anything like DDR (well, PAL DDR anyway, US DDR might be different)

I doubt the timing windows will be messed with, seeing as JP and US DDRs have the same timing windows (console releases, that is).

And US DDR licenses aren't all that easy. At least not the later stuff. IMO, Move Your Feet is pretty nasty for a 7.

HAHA, oh man this is good

I don't remember The Shining Polaris being A 7 STAR ON LIGHT MODE! (It is a 4) I definitely see some major difficulty skewing going on here, as they don't want to overwhelm the noobs. Maybe, just maybe, there will FINALLY be a decent "introductory" IIDX style.

Also, none of the songs on the menu screen are 190 BPM, so I wonder what the 190 BPM song is they're referencing is. The only 190 BPM songs in IIDX are: Paranoia MAX, Cloudy Music, Diamond Jealousy, and R10K (eh...)

I have a feeling that Paranoia Max is that song, since it was also featured on DDR MAX USA, and I have a feeling they're going to shoutout to that game somewhere along the line.

US DDRs do have that stupid thing where you get an automatic AA for a full combo tho. But yeah.

Sounds like the US licences aren't quite as pathetic as the Dancing Stage ones then. I have Dancing Stage Megamix and every licenced song on it is 4 feet on heavy.

5Key songs? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

The question is, though, can you only play the ol' 5Key songs in 5Key mode only?

Slightly OT, but more Beatmania in the news: this time, on Italian national TV. Video at http://www.ddrplanet.it/default.aspx?modul...ents&type=extra, select "DDRPlanet In TV".

Notice that in one of those screenshots, the difficulties just go "1-2-3-4-5". I doubt those are the final difficulties.

Bemanistyle has all the info right now.

Apparently, the game isn't coming out until 2006. So those screenshots are likely just mockups. (I guess that means that none of the songs are confirmed, either.)

9th needed more repeats after all smile.gif It'll be cool to play these songs on the new interface.

It looks like the 7* rating is for The Shining Polaris on 7 key, not Light 7, which seems more reasonable.
