If I'm spending $20 on myself, I'd expect something fucking amazing for it. Not so sure about spending that much money in a place like that - I'm pretty conservative about restaurant expenditures.

Dude, Fridays is only $20 if you're getting like, an appetizer just for yourself, some massive steak AND dessert.

Just go with others, get fried mac'n'cheese for an appetizer and split that and then get like that cheeseburger or a jack daniels flat iron with fries. With a coke it'd be probably $15 total. Don't bother with dessert. Without an appetizer, you'd probably spend $12, which is only slightly more expensive than Perkins and comparable to all the other mid-tier restaurants.

Granite City is much much better. And even there, you could pretty easily get away with spending less than $15. Unless you want their amazing filet mignon which like $18 by itself.

Perkins? Granite City? Are these Minnesota Fujimori specialties here?

Granite City could be but Perkins should be everywhere. At the very least, it's everywhere from here to Tennessee, at least around Virginia and in Washington. It's equal to IHOP/Denny's/Baker's Square level, which I would call low tier sit-down.

TGIFridays is mid-tier, along with Applebees, Olive Garden, etc.

Perkins and Granite City are both standouts in their tiers. Okay, maybe I just have an emotional attachment to Perkins because it was the only restaurant at my college open past midnight that wasn't Taco Bell (stupid U. P.) but Granite City is genuinely good. They're a little pricey but they do serve large portions to make up for it. I do know that I didn't see a lot of Perkins in downstate Michigan though.

Applebee's isn't mid-tier anything. That place ranges from passable to awful. Can't speak for Friday's (had a bad experience there as a child, never been back) but Chili's is much superior to Applebee's. I'd call all of those low-tier chains, myself.

I suppose it really depends on where you are on Applebees. I've been to a really good one a few times. Overall I'd call them the lowest of the mid-tier. Chilis and Fridays are the upper bend.

I like Denny's in the lower tier myself, mostly due to their fantastic chicken soup and the local service is way better (and attractive). I live a quarter mile from a Perkins though so I hang out with friends there a lot.

My tiers are more based off of pricing overall really. It just usually means the same in taste too.

Oh, Buffalo Wild Wings is definitely a great mid-tier too. I've only had great experiences there. Dunno how widespread they are though.

QFE

Also I think we're gonna have to wait until BREAD ZONE is fully done making their own tier list; people who don't eat out like four times per week are obviously going to be less skilled at detecting variances in taste than the BREAD ZONERS. Honestly, I think what will end up happening is that they'll just say a tier list can't be made. I mean look at the variables; length of time the cook has been there, location in relation to offered plates, atmospheric affect on food, and the ever-so-rare trip that happens that becomes "bad service" when you get your food. Tiers no longer exist guys.

it takes no skill to use desserts
and it's too easy to get stuck under the edges of applebee's
