playing mermaid girl 80 times will help your timing (if you're playing seriously and going for max EX)
I am just being nitpicky though

yes but only in mermaid girl/dazzlin/wana and the likes which most people already go for max without really trying
then you play ghost revival and do almost aa or something like that

most people don't go for single digit greats - that requires actually working on perfect timing, which is something you have to work on separately from being able to hit more notes

i'm saying that mermaid and the likes help your timing in songs with well laid out notes which aside from mosaic isn't the case on upper level songs

Nice. Thinking of picking up on IIDX again, and BMS is probably the quickest way to get back to where I was.

btw I noticed you didn't really go into depth on note subdivisions on your timing article - like, how 8th note streams (EDEN) are easy to time because you have less mental/rhythmic subdivisions of notes and you're "timing" each note. And how that progresses to what TANMEN calls "gachi oshi" which is basically playing smaller subdivisions like 12th or 16th notes like you'd play 8ths.
In the end though, it just comes down to reading at a much higher level than what you're playing. Wondering what your thoughts are.

I didnt really go into depth since it was a general article on timing. I pretty much use the same concept as tanmen but i think i think about the BPM's more and keypresses to get a rhythm.

As for the reading part i feel like it pretty much comes down to that you have to force yourself to play higher level stuff.

and "gachi oshi" should be "GACHI MUCHI"
