Another good read, props again to those involved. It's surprising that so many of you guys list 2DX as a social experience; there's literally no one I can think of save maybe one person in the whole of the UK who plays with any amount of regularity, and no AC to speak of (we have 1 BM3rd Mix 5Key in central London). That being the case, the game is an extremely solitary pursuit, I don't even have any friends who are interested in rhythm gaming (aside from party sessions of RB) to feign interest. So yeah, it's all about personal goals over here, probably one of the reasons I've lapped up the ranbats, despite coming last every week except when m33sh didn't post a score (cheers mate, appreciated smile.gif).

Also, man, you guys all talking about exams and school and shit, makes me feel like an old fucker!

One last thing - can someone elaborate on 1048's style please? I've seen plenty of vids of him and he's obviously mad skills, but what is it about his style that's so special?

He has a really good style for AC but it's just not as good as DOLCE (which is basically fingers anywhere lmao).

Wrist scratch, left hand is thumb 1 middle 2 index 3, right hand is index 4 thumb 5 middle 6 ring 7. Left hand feels weird for a lot of people and you kinda have to play at an angle but it's a solid playstyle, probably the best stationary playstyle.

I'm pretty sure most people use 1048 for easy access to the turntable, even without wrist scratch. It's just a quick position to get your left hand to and from the keys<->turntable.

Yeah I've been using that playstyle pretty much since day 1, thought there was some other mad thing he did. I can pretty much change from thumb/index/middle/ring for 1 at will now, which is nice, and thumbing 3's pretty handy too. Ideally I want to be able to mirror my playstyle when necessary, so ending up with thumb on 7. Still some work to do though.

It's also good knowing some of you fellas took a while to get sick at this game. I was starting to feel like a retard for taking over 2 years to pass 11s.

I've been playing since 7th CS, 10dan since murmur twins was a 10dan song (sure they got harder every time).
It's okay though, since I think I'm finally going to hit kaiden in RA. tongue.gif
It really does depend on how much you actually play, and also how you play. There's no need to rush though.
Don't ask me what you have to eat to become DOLCE though.

it took me 5 years to pass every 12 that isnt a black another or AC exclusive
and i can't even replicate a lot of the better feats i've done this year
the worst example is my gambol [a] score, which is 2 or 3 years old and i can't come close to it now (maybe if i cared)

so just take the game at your own pace. it takes hundreds, if not thousands of hours to get good enough to clear kaiden or pass/hard clear every song in the game, so dont worry and just try to have fun

also, you have to be a monster to pass everything on doubles

It never ends.

You call it a miracle.

Others opt to refer to it by its ORIGINAL NAME

You have to hit billion notes to become kaiden.

No joke.

I've been playing since beatmania US came out and I still can't beat mid-hard 12s so don't feel too bad. It's a pretty hard game.

Glad to know someone good actually uses the same playstyle as me lol. Playing AC has made it slightly more flexible though.
