So I've noticed that there has been kind of a huge wave of new registrants lately:

While I wouldn't put it past Schala (See: TWG 7) to just create a host of new identities just for giggles or some greater master plan, chances are thats just the PARANOiA talking =D

SO: Greetings to all of you! I'm actually wondering: How is it that all these people have just so recently taken the plunge into IIDX? Discovered/decided to buy, etc etc. I want to guess that its the new DJ games coming out, bringing attention to the genre overall, but I don't know if thats based in reality at all.

So, all you brand new people, where have you all come from?

I wrote a little bit in the "how you got into IIDX" thread. I'm a legitimate newb, at least to my knowledge. =o

Interesting how there was a crackdown on bad posting habits and whatnot, and then we get a bunch of new people...go figure!

Interesting how the new people aren't all "hurr hurr I'm a grrl on the interwebs! I've got boobies" as their first post, and then we don't flame them until they leave...go figure!

though I'm a little worried fox here might be a furry, what with the avatar and all...
Interesting how Konami lets some American furry write music for their games, and then Empress is the first IIDX style that I don't like as a whole...go figure!

Omg the word of the day really IS gambol, I didn't even know that was a word haha, I thought the song was about someone "taking a gambol with the law".

gambol \GAM-buhl\, intransitive verb:
1. To dance and skip about in play; to frolic.

noun:
1. A skipping or leaping about in frolic.

Well first I started submitting scores on the www.vjarmy.com/iidx page and then after a few weeks I noticed a really tiny hyperlink that said forum.

lol stats

I'm guessing waffles pretty much answered his own question. With Scratch: The Ultimate DJ coming out and rumors and such going around about DJ Hero the genre's probably getting more popular, if only a little. And with this IIDX is bound to pop up in some google or youtube searches.

It's not the case for me, though, I've been playing DDR for a few years now, but I just want to try and branch out to other Bemani series. Maybe this is another factor?

I'd think having exposure to other Bemani games plays a bigger part in someone playing PNM/IIDX than possible upcoming US dj simulation games. Mainly because Japanese music games have an almost completely different aesthetic/appeal to them than American music games

I may be biased in that statement since my own introduction to IIDX was DDR->playing Stepmania on keyboard->IIDX

I remember registering to ask how the heck to join VJA to post scores. Then I find that microscopic link under the login page. Remy should make it a little bigger, don'tchathink?

Warm welcome to the new guys (and dare I say gals?) here. Sometimes it seems to me that VJ Army has been on the interwebs forever and that Remy is God's God. And Celica is his wife of course.

And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of trolling and memes. Not in any mean or draconian sense; we didn't need that. Our jamming would simply prevail. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five weeks later, you can go up on a steep hill in VJ Army and look west, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

PS - Small Waves
