360 release -> Have to buy a Japanese 360 due to region locking
PS3 release -> Have to buy a PS3 at all, for a single game
Wii release -> HahAHHaHaHAHaHAHAHHAhahahah yeah right
PSP release -> more likely than above

dry.gif

Maybe they'll push storage limits and include more songs than evah before (like DDR EXTREME CS's 111 versus every other DDR CS mix)

Maybe Konami developed a new method of storing data for their games that takes up less space...
</wild speculation>

Music games are purely driven by content. Since the gameplay experience is so streamline and rarely shows variation between game versions (especially with Japanese games) the only thing that defines them is having new songs to play all the time. RB2 has done two amazing things that no other music game has done: Allowed for importing of old songs from other RB releases; Giving a way to distribute extra content in between major releases
The only way DLC is bad for a music game is if it is overpriced and/or it causes them to cut down on the initial number of songs in the physical releases

Konami still needs to release Beatmania The Final for PS2 before going next gen IMO

If there's one thing locked songs in a home version videogame has shown us, is that it's cool for a day or two and after that time, when many people still haven't figured out the trick to unlocking the final few songs (e.g. DJT CS), the novelty wears off and people just want the rest of the damn songs already.

But you enjoy that damned song when you finally figure out how to get it. At least I did

I have a vision of a release of Empress where every BGA and song has been scrapped in favor of overlays and songs of 5-key.

...a man can dream, can't he?

Don't get me wrong, I would like to see Virtual Mind and Infinite Prayer on this too, but Konami is giving something to their fans who want to be able to play all of their favorite songs on it.

And of course it's the Japanese who are picking the "most popular" songs, so they're gonna be ass
though if V is not on this heads are gonna roll!

I counted 127 songs on that list

with the total at over 180 that leaves a lot of room for more 5k revivals!
Seriously Konami.. you give us an append disc that isn't Beatmania The Final?

WORST

crossover: Through the Fires and the Flames (GFDM cut) btns.gif

Deep Clear Eyes with fixed [A] timing on the new 7k chart and "classic" timing on 5k kkthnx Konami
Free Kicker or Reroots. Whichever had the more ridiculous jacks
NOT Hell Scaper. Konami had their chance on DJT CS and didn't take it. We don't want their silly song anymore. They can keep it

Speaking of the drama CD thing... There's some talk floating around that one of the CS staff members accidentally leaked something about there being a roots26 anime in production. It'd be pretty crazy if this were true.

Here I am catching up on the EMPRESS CS news, I see the Drama CD news, I go to make a joke about "an anime is next", and I get beaten to it

I used to use 2 legal boxes placed side by side for doubles and that always worked great.

So wait, in "IIDX lore" (lmao), how did Sakura come back from the dead?

By harvesting the energy of players attempting to pass Mendes [K], they were able to revive the dead

Shouldn't be too hard to SCORE some of the extras eventually from resales. (Which reminds me, crap, I still want a Maya Takamura's Pieces dry.gif)

Price depends on which pieces of Maya Takamura you want.

I'm just going with the vanilla release on this one. The Visual Emotions DVDs never interest me, I want to listen to Ryu's album before I decide to buy it or not, and I was considering the special box but decided against it if that's all I want.

EDIT: I just swung by the Ryu album discussion topic and I might change my mind about waiting to listen to it before purchasing at this rate.

Oh yeah, so the Premium Best disc will have a mode called "Archives Mode" that has over 500 different images, including results screens from the whole series, promotional materials, artwork, and so forth.

Premium Best disc or Premium BEST disc?

Somehow I don't think changing the game code to allow for hold notes would be incredibly hard, especially if they've already coded it into IIDX17.

You'd be surprised. Who knows how retarded the game code is. We still don't have individually selectable difficulties for 2P Battle on CS like in AC.

I'd assume that's more due to PS2 RAM limitations than anything else.

I've always theorized the same thing. That they don't have enough RAM to load/store all the assets needed for both players for all songs. I'd figure they could do most songs, but then there are some like Mei that'd completely screw the RAM limit over.
