So do you guys just expect IIDX to stay on the PS2 forever? You're probably gonna want to get a new console eventually anyway, and there are distinct advantages to it moving to PS3 or 360. Stuff like being able to play the game in HD, on a HDTV and not have the upscale delay lagging it all to hell is pretty high on my list of Things That Would Be Cool. Not to mention online play and having all your scores automatically uploaded to the e-amuse leaderboards that are also integrated with scores from the arcade, although that might be wishful thinking. Plus, having lots of songs on the same disc, not to mention DLC (again, very wishful and unlikely thinking, but at least it would be possible).

There are a lot of good reasons for IIDX to finally make the move to a current gen console.

Unless it's free, DLC couldn't possibly be a good thing. And isn't that kind of thing region locked anyway?

How could new songs possibly not be a good thing? I don't see you saying "unless they give it away for free, Empress CS couldn't possibly be a good thing"

Well gee I guess the release of Empress CS is bad news because they could put only 30 arcade songs on it, no DLC, and charge $80.

I mean DLC for new songs, not existing songs or songs we should get anyway. Rock Band should show that getting steady new DLC is awesome (probably wouldn't actually happen but like I said, wishful thinking) Obviously, any technology can be misused.

What's this, people playing Sakura in a tournament? I don't have 8th Style, YOU DIDN'T TELL ME I'D NEED TO SPEND ALL THIS MONEY ON GAMES TO COMPETE mad.gif

I've got a fairly simple solution - qualifiers must be songs that everyone has. For individual matches, both people must have the song in question to compete on it. Is that so hard?

Or just forbid all DLC if you must, then you're pretty much in the same situation as if the DLC never came out in the first place. Don't deny me cool things just because other people needlessly bitch about them.

I don't like the idea of paying for DLC because Konami or whatever company should have just included it in the game in the first place; I'm pretty sure all the DLC songs for Rock Band or Rock Band 2 could fit on a Blu-Ray (and probably should have), but then what do the 360 users get? It's just bad management and planning by companies and they decide to make a buck off of their mistakes and oversights.

...

There are over 500 downloadable songs available for Rock Band. Generally Harmonix works flat out every week to license new songs, chart them and provide them to users to purchase online. Over the last month or so we've seen three entire, full length albums released with full charting for every track.

You were really expecting Harmonix to license and chart 500 songs and put them on the Rock Band 2 disc for $60 and somehow complete all this work before the game was released?

Seriously, get a clue.

QUOTE (Rowen of the Strata @ May 3 2009, 09:53 PM) *
Actually, RB hit 666 songs last week. So yeah, if anyone really expects that many songs on one game, especially a game meant to be multiplatform, that's a little dumb.

I mean, yeah, you said "over 500" but it's even more than that. The amount of work they put into dlc is ridiculous.

Well, I subtracted the total disc songs (since I figured it included those) from that figure and got a little over 500.

QUOTE (Catastrophe @ May 3 2009, 11:04 PM) *
Okay sure, it does have to go next-gen someday. But when they do, the only platform I see mattering is the 360. All 3 home consoles can run IIDX no problem. (Upscale delay lagging what? The software will just work.) And all 3 consoles would have a wired controller. The only thing that matters between consoles is that Live kicks the shit out Home and friend codes. Other than that all 3 consoles are equal to me.

Given the choice I would probably prefer PSN since Live's advantages are mostly in the realms of scheduling online matches and stuff - PSN can maintain leaderboards just as well, and it's free. (Of course this would depend on what they intend to do with it). Actually, a more pressing concern is whether it would be region locked if it went to 360. That would suck for a lot of people, I'm sure.

Pop'n 10 actually took a shorter time to unlock than many of the others if you were dedicated and concentrated that time only on unlocking it.

The trick is you had the same chance no matter how many songs you played. So I think I just played normal mode, quit the first and second songs with start and then got my unlock chance. Took 4 hours for the full unlock IIRC. Most of the other popn games force you to play a full round each time and yeah that'd suck if you kept getting nothing.

True. I'm simply remembering all of the vitriol I saw spouted around release time from people getting impatient about not figuring out how to get VOX UP.

In this case, it essentially lasted until each person in question actually played VOX UP

Yeah got that too btns.gif

If they really wanted to screw me over they'd have to release it for the original Xbox and have it not be backwards compatible with the 360

Technically, every 3rd style song already makes use of HS5.

Gambol's timing has never been off, it's just very very exact. You need to be more accurate and you will tend to get Goods more often if you are not.
