I played drummania 7th Mix recently, but had to stop playing due to hurting my hands from grasping on the drum sticks too hard, causing my hands to literally hurt.

Am I the only one who's ever experienced this? Or are the rest of you smart enough to avoid hurting your hands by playing with wooden drum sticks?

2 steps to naming a yoshitaka song

1. Turn on capslock
2. Roll face across keyboard

nope, you're not alone

two saturdays ago i was playing drummania V4 AC with the wooden drumsticks there and while i didn't experience any pain at all, i got some blisters on my thumbs that were nasty as fuck
but to be fair, i was playing all charts that were > 70 so

unrelated, but also i jammed so hard that day that after i beat model ft2 miracle version EXT with autobass i got a nosebleed

I used to get blisters from playing Drummania, but I've since adopted a looser grip and allow the sticks to naturally bounce back.

Now given I haven't played anything 60+ in ages, and most of my drumming lately has been on Expert Rock Band that doesn't feature rolls nearly as fast as DM's but I haven't had a blister in a long time.

I sometimes get blisters with my wooden drumsticks, not because I hold them too tightly, but because when I strike with them they rub against the side of my finger in just the wrong way so it forms a blister if I play for a really long time.

This is my issue. sad.gif

Don't get it on Rock Band, though, for some reason. Probably because I really suck at reading charts on Rock Band, so I only play on Hard. Why couldn't they just make the pedal an actual lane again?

Ironically, Rock Band players ask the exact opposite question any time I show videos of Drummania.

Dan Teasdale from Harmonix actually posted some rationale for it on SA which made sense to me, namely that the pedal is done by a different limb to the rest of the notes so they wanted it represented as separate visual data so players could process it separately instead chunking it with the pad hits. I guess it's largely up to what you're used to.

Yeah, it makes sense - I just need to play RB drums more, I think. The last few times I've played, it's felt a lot more natural, at least.

I don't get blisters, but I get really bad handcramps after a few hard songs. Simply from holding the drumstick, it hurts. Not sure why it happens, it doesn't really happen with any other games, maybe Taiko but not as badly. Never had a blister.

I get blisters but I don't know if it's drummania or Pop'n that causes them. (It could be both!) My right pinky always gets a blister every time I go to the arcade.

the grip of official sticks is the culprit, i never experieced this when using wooden ones.

I've developed callouses from playing the drums for real, rock band, and drummania. I used to get them, but not anymore.

Helter Skelter should be on drummania

That only works when doing multiple takes of the song (Therefore rendering any scores obtained unimpressive :kaze:)

You call it a miracle.

Others opt to refer to it by its ORIGINAL NAME

I haven't gotten them on DM (always use my normal wooden sticks) but when I started heavily playin' Pop'n AC this summer I got some sorta blisters on my palms, not gross pusy ones but bubbles in the skin that peeled off.

Still better than playin GOLD though D:

Used to get blisters when I first started, but loosened up my grip.
I'd say using wooden is a better idea.

The only times my hands begin to ache is when I'm doing 9X range songs.

The thing I hate more than blisters, is beginning to sweat. I'd rather get blisters than sweat a helluva lot.
