Music game was either Space Channel 5 or Samba De Amigo (with no maracas), I can't recall.
Bemani title was Dance Dance Revolution Konamix.
Arcade Bemani was DDR 4th Mix.

First Bemani ever: DDR 1st mix JP CS version.
Story: DDR had just came out a while earlier in Japan, and our local anime club was about to have a huge meeting. They wanted a game tournament and luckily one of them had just come back from Japan with DDR and mats. Since I was friends with President of the club I was in the backroom watching as they played a few days before the big tournament thing. Since it was basically unheard of outside of Japan they didn't want anyone else playing it/knowing about it. I begged them to let me play on it saying that I wasn't going to enter the tournament.
After literally an hour or so of begging they let me try stating "we'll let you play, but if you fail at all we're gonna laugh our asses off at you". So I played, first song was Butterfly on basic. I was doing alright for the first quarter/half, but the pad shifted on me, then I looked down to see where the arrows were, but started missing arrows cause of that, then out of franticness I failed and got laughed at. A few months later I became better than any of them could hope to be.
Haha also random insert, there was another tournament to karaoke an anime theme song. The song, was Watashi no Tamago from Dragon Half. Hahaha good times.

First Arcade Bemani: DDR 3rd mix. My favorite mix.

First Non-DDR bemani: Pop n' music.
This one was fucking random as hell. Me and my friends started up a Gaming club in university, and one guy brought it and asked if we could play it. He didn't have a home control though so we dual-shocked it. I was the only one who enjoyed it though.

First music type game: Was either Parappa or Bust a groove, whichever came out first.

Best part was that no one knew how the song went...and when it started their faces just went pale hahahahaha. It was a secret song to begin with and everyone who participated had to go to another room when someone was performing. lol Awesome times.

My first Bemani was DDR 1st Mix. Thought it was the greatest thing ever, but HARD. Obviously, times have changed. For the record, I've played all of the DDR AC mixes, the one exception being Solo Bass Mix. I never ever saw one of those.

I also remember playing HipHopMania Complete Mix somewhere at one time, so I still remember a few of the older 5-key songs.

My first music game was Parappa The Rapper, followed by Bust A Groove (Move) a year later. I also play Technic Beat (Technetix) every so often.

My first arcade rhythm game that wasn't DDR was Pump It Up: Perfect Collection. Awesome mix. Fell in love with Pump ever since. wub.gif

DDR 3rd Mix, both CS and AC almost simultaneously. Then IIDX on the PS2. And then I was hooked and I started searching for every Bemani game ever made.

Although I did play a game called Bust a Groove once or twice before I played DDR. And liked it, but I can barely remember it now. I think the gameplay was "pure Simon Says" but I can't remember.

YEAH WELL I played on a DDR 1st mix on vacation as my first Bemani game then Beatmania Complete Mix. There is a 1.5 machine in the area too but heaven knows what the difficulty unlock codes are anymore.

Guitar Freaks 2nd Style forever changed the way I play video games. When I first heard Jet World it was automatically the most awesome thing since Hellraiser; seriously.

DDR US for PS1. I was pretty bummed that it didn't have Butterfly until I was good enough to play Boom Boom Dollar.

EDIT: Or Parappa, if you count it. I remember playing it at my grandparents' house and I was the only one who thought it was amazing.
